  • Wow, that eee booted damn fast! Might be time to switch over to "nLited" XP on mine!

  • i am a via fanboy. no matter what shit via makes it's better than anything intel makes. via c3>>>>>core i7. via for life.hahahaha (laugh like a stupid geek).

  • cheap via is for linux and the asusu eee pc was started first

  • these are actualy designed for linux. and also have low hard disk space. there made to be cheap basicly! running xp on them will be its max.

  • Or not.

Mine has a 160gb hard drive and runs XP just fine, and I'm going to put Windows 7 on it when it comes out...

They're not designed for Linux. They're designed to be internet browsers and light entertainment (Videos, youtube, etc).

  • i would agree mtotho, google the ssd disk speed that's on eee pc and you would find that it's not one of those that uses high-end components. It won't be able to even topthe speed of a 5200rpm hdd.

The usage however is, it's more robust and less power hungry , with the new atom cpu on the eee901 with ssd , the up time is nuts.

  • It's the SSD which make the boot up time much more faster....my EEEPC also take only 25sec to boot up the XP....

  • my intel quad core @ 3.0ghz, and my 2 raptor 10k rpm in raid 0 boot windows xp slower than that. It has little to do with the hard ware, and more to do with all the crap it has on the windows install, and addons, etc.etc.

  • nope.

it's just because of the ssd disk.

it doesn't have "rpm". it's simply amazing...

  • meh, C7 is an old architechture. compare Atom to Nano (Isaiah) and then we will see.

  • The Celeron M 900 is based of P6-M Microarchitechture. (Based on Pentium 3)

  • yea but its still the newer chip.

  • obviously the eee would boot faster than the everex, the eee uses ssd storage type while the everex uses hdd storage type, pointless comparison, no offense..

  • guys btw if u are desprate for your Eee pc to start up at amazing speed why not put linux on it speeds load up loads

  • HAHAHA ONLY 9000mHz....Thats more than the nasa standard, or actually more likely 3 times the nasa standards(they use dual intel xeon processors)

  • okay, its not really pwnage at all you retard, the cloudbook is booting from a 4200 rpm hard drive and the eee pc is booting from a flash drive, of course the eee pc has faster start up it doesn't have to find anything on a slow spinning hard drive... come on people think about it, you get a bit slower with more space or faster with no space make its all personal preference and small computers like this aren't supposed to run like a real lap top

  • Exactly!!!

  • It's not just that.

    VIA makes slow ass CPU's.

Also, my Aspire One has a 5200 rpm drive and it loads Windows about as fast as that EEE did.

Once I get some money I'm going to get myself a fat little 500gb 7200 for it. Then it's on to Windows 7. :D

  • omg that was so pwnage!!1

  • I've noticed (even with recent fast computers) on some hardware their windows drivers can significantly delay the startup time.

I'd like to see the same startup using a Linux distro (the same on both).
