I tend to agree, but writing a new score to fit and old film must be difficult. At least in this case it doesn’t seem to detract or distract from the visual element. The clip as a whole is having a very good response from viewers for a variety of reasons. Thanks for your interest.
I am afraid I have to say that on this occasion, Neil's music is a mess. Was the score written especially for this film, or has it been pulled from somewhere else? The music says absolutely nothing at all about anything - either her or Laughton. One could do just as well sticking any sassy, jazzy thing on this. It simply doesn't reflect anything going on in the pictures!! Mood, motivation, subtext, desire... Nothing at all. And no tension. C'mon! Many thanks for uploading though!
It appears this is where the Monty Pythons got the idea for the huge, obnoxious diner who vomits and finally explodes in their film "The Meaning Of LIfe". If not Laughton is a dead ringer!
