  • Eva Cassidy, no one gave a fuck when she lived. There is so many of her out there. Hacking on pianos on a lousy hotel. Listen to them. Listen...

  • @Sidhellacopter like, on top of a lousy hotel?

  • @Sidhellacopter

You have the IQ of a retarded meat ant

  • @poopsienoremac ... i think you don`t understand what he wanted to say ... i understood, and my mothers-tongue is not english ...

  • I can only say that the manner of his expression is ambivalent.

If I took him the wrong way then I apologise.

    I guess I'm merely a fiercely loyal EC fan(atic)

  • Rest in Peace Eva, you were too good for this world. Your voice erupts in our hearts like a dormant volcano of emotions.

Eva is singing from heaven now...

  • just the best.

  • simply beautiful just like her... <3

  • Truly a shame that heaven called and wanted their angel back!

  • RIP Eva. youre beautiful.

  • Eva’s version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” is a masterpiece. I found Eva’s Rainbow this weekend. Over the course of just minutes I rode an emotional rollercoaster from the joy of serendipitous discovery to the sadness and sorrow that this wonderous talent was taken too soon to the acceptance and gratitude that we at least have her songs to remember her by.

  • @CouchMusubi ABC's "Nightline" profiled her story in the early 2000's. If you hunt around on the Nightline website you can find it in their archives. Save it for a late night, put on your seat belt and have the tissues close at hand.

  • profound, how moving eva's performance is

  • Used this song for my mothers memorial slide show, couldn't find a better version of "over the rainbow" simply beautiful ! Her version has so much heart poored into it. Fits in very well the second and ending half of my moms slide show. check it out. Under My Beloved Mother...

  • God has taken his angel back to heaven where she leads the choir of angels - thank you for gracing us with your presence and voice, even though it was but for a brief time

  • If someone writes something despicable, and ignorant, do not dignify remark

with name-calling.Just enjoy the purest voice ever! It will drown out all the silly 14-year-old brain four letter word users! MsCentrum 04

  • Thank You, Eva ... Thank You ... God Bless You !!!

  • @WillShakespeare2007 You my friend are a worthless loser> GET A LIFE

  • Wow!!!!

  • @WillShakespeare2007 If you don't feel emotion from this song...profound emotion, then obvioiusly, sir, u don't have any. Case closed.

  • Judy Garland was a great singer, but this is the definitive version. I can't imagine it ever being surpassed.

  • What a lovely heart warming song and person. What a beautiful voice.... She died so young and was taken from earth much too early in life... RIP Eva x

  • What a beautiful rendition of one of the true classics of all time. What rendition is the best? It's not only a matter of taste, but also of the moment. One day I might like Eva's best. The next day it might be Linda Eder's and the next day maybe Sam Harris or all the way back to Judy Garland. Regardless, Eva was one of the greatest ever and it is sad that we had her for such a short time.

  • her eyes....they're haunting, yet so gentle. they draw you in to the story that she sings to you...they're beautiful.

  • her eyes....they're haunting, yet so gentle. they draw you in to the story that she sings to you...they're beautiful.

  • @d56854 I totally agree with ya.. She is was a fantastic singer, I could listen to music all day.

She is so good and truly from the heart that I used her Over the rainbow song in my baby daughters funeral... Her voice is so strong. She was here on this earth for a too short of time... RIP Eva!

  • Such a beautiful soul. One of the most beautiful people in the history of the world. I miss her and would have liked to have met

    her. Rest in Peace Eva.....

  • Beautiful

  • The sepia coloring adds to the allure of this performance by the majestic Eva.

  • Recently discovered this angels voice. Her rendition of this song is my second favorite ever. Jevetta Steele's version wins in a photo finish, but really who cares. They are both beautiful and poignant. I am now proudly an Eva Cassidy fan. RIP Eva.

  • Like "Georgia" to Ray Charles, Eva is (always) "on my mind".

  • This amazing woman was taken from us only 10 months after this recording. It makes one question why we are all spinning on a big blue ball in the middle of nowhere walking the blurred between fear and faith. I can't say that I've ever heard a more angelic and beautiful voice in my life. I want my Eva back.

  • 2 people have no soul...

  • Fabulous version of a marvellous musical poem.

  • Beautiful song beautifully sung by a beautiful singer, Eva Cassidy! GOD BLESS HER!

  • Now that is what you call talent, simple straight forward 100% talent.

  • i love it, i love it, i loveeeeeeeeeeeee ittttttttttttttt.....

  • Funny that people always pull the "freedom of speech card" whenever they are saying something that will obviously be bashed to oblivion. Sure, you are fully entitled to your opinion, but its rather puzzling if you are surprised that people respond, you should know that when you post your opinion. If i go into a church saying "Jesus was a fraud" i am entitled to do so, i fully expect to get bashed for it tho. :)

Anyways, love this song, then again doubt i ever disliked anything from Eva! :)

  • Haha omg its just so funny how people get annoyed by my comment...Guys, I'm not sure if you're aware, but there's something called "freedom of speech" which enables me to fucking say WHATEVER I think... You lambasting me will certainly not change my mind, so get over it... How is her death relevant to what her singing is? Geez, grow up. I like her as a singer, I think she holds the capacity to transmit a lot of feelings and emotions, but I just didn't like this version. I'M SORRY

  • @AnnieThelen14 Freedom of speech doesn't mean taste, or tact. You're a p.o.s.. Troll elsewhere. You're obviously a miserable person, no surprise there. Go be lonely in your corner. No one wants to hear your misery.

  • @mse475 OK,so not liking this song entails: I'm lonely;I'm miserable;I have no taste;I'm a troll.I'm just outlining this so that you'll luckily realize how stupid and nonsense it sounds. If you're gonna comment on my 'liking' or 'disliking' the song, you must provide reasonable and coherent arguments.Disliking a song doesn't determine the condition of a person, how absurd. Look up: "subjetivism", its notion points out that many subjects' truth or nature is liable to a person's individual thought.

  • @AnnieThelen14 Give it a rest Mr. Peabody. Whenever you make comments in a public forum like this, you open yourself up to critisizm. People have just as much right to their opinion on your comments as you have to comment on this song. BTW, a fairly coherent argument against your opinion is you're out numbered 9044 to 171 in all the different YouTube versions of this song. We may not change your mind, but you would be wise to use your time doing something that you're good at.

  • @terrho7

    PLEASE! STOP FEEDING IT!

  • @AnnieThelen14 You're right, people shouldn't hold it against you that you're congenitally incapable of recognizing an amazing performance. Yes, it's not against the law to be musically clueless. After all we wouldn't go up to one of the kids on the Jerry Lewis' telethon and castigate them for not being able to run a 5-sec 50 yd dash. They can't help it they were born defective.

Do not scorn poor AnnieThelen14, pity her.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I just melt every time I hear her. Eva was a singing angel. What a tragedy she never got "properly" recorded before cancer took her.

  • She brings her fans to tears, with music so beautiful and sad to our ears. For some of us there is, absolutely, nothing to compare her to. She is an incredible singer who starts with a great voice, then adds a musical sense and guitar arrangements that

are just amazing. Listen to Eva's "Waly, Waly" - just incredible.

  • Glad I took the time to discover Eva Cassidy, she has opened my eyes to the world, her life was tragically cut short and it's a shame that not much of her popularity came till she was taken from us, she would have been amazing to see live.

R.I.P Eva we will always remember you xoxo

  • just beautiful

  • @AnnieThelen14 - Do you have an earwax issue? Since I first heard this, I was struck by the beautiful clarity of the acoustic guitar work - it would stand as a bench-mark if Eva had NOT sung on it, but sing she did, with the voice of an Angel. looking at your faves, I see a dire performance by a squeaky young boy, with no vocal control, no depth, very poor timing and emphasis. He is MILES from Jon Bon-Jovi's or Robert Plants' ability. Justin Bieber as one of your faves? 'Nuff Said!

  • I am an atheist, but that doesn't mean I cannot understand and love the religious comments here about Eva. They are so truly heartfelt and sincere, and I see them as ONE WAY of expressing our deepest emotions.

From MY beliefs, I can say that music is humanity's greatest creation, totally a force for "good", no place for "evil".

And Eva Cassidy is the pinnacle of this, our most precious, art.

  • great guitar work

  • This is one of the songs singers will just murder but Eva has totally claimed it and done it justice like no one since Judy. Did you know JFK used to call Judy in the early morning hours from all over the world and all he would say is "You know what I want to hear" and she would sing it to him over the phone? Every time I hear Eva nail that last "somewhere" I just lose it.

  • NICE

  • Things like this make me glad that man invented recording. What a tragedy if a perfomance like this had been lost.

  • @AnnieThelen14 ..boring?>>>>!!! \What did you expect...a 17 min drum solo in the middle of the song? lol

  • @RanetkiFan

Man you are so right about this AnnieThelen14!

I am hoping she is part of the 90% who will perish because she has no heart.

Life might look slim, but songs like these from such a wonderful women gives me hope x

  • @RanetkiFan I think he meant melancholic but didn't know that was a word.

  • @RanetkiFan She was a fantastic singer, very heart warming. You don't know good music!

  • @AnnieThelen14 BORING???? When this song was first played in the UK (BBC Radio 2 Terry Wogan show) the switchboard was jammed with people calling to complain. Apparently they they thought a warning should have been given. As it was, the music hit their hearts and they had to pull over to the side of the road because they could not see through the tears to drive safely. The BBC switchboard logged several thousand such calls. Pretty impressive for a "boring" song.

  • @saffsgrandad It's not quite a touching song, neither that much a performance... It was rather boring, you're talking bullshit... A song like "True Colors" would fit perfectly with that description given

  • @AnnieThelen14 Of course everyone is entitled to their own taste in music as in everything else, and there is no law saying you have to like what I like BUT what I said about the response in the UK is a matter of record. It did happen exactly as I describe as you can easily confirm at Terry Wogan's own website. BTW, civilised human beings can have intelligent discussions and even disagree with each other without resorting to bad language and personal abuse. We disagree, politely, we move on.

  • @saffsgrandad Amen to that. Sorry

  • @AnnieThelen14 grow up will you!!!

  • @AnnieThelen14 Q. How can passion be boring? Discuss.

  • @AnnieThelen14 please go away, leave and do not come back here to this video, this is only for those that can appreciate art, go back to your justin biber

  • @AnnieThelen14 Yeah, she wan't wearing a bikini and grinding on some dude...just the perfect voice is not enough? Tell u what, why don't u wait for the Eric Prydz remix...pleb.

  • @AnnieThelen14

    Maybe you could do better?

She has passed and all you can say is that she sounds boring?

Why come here in the first place?

If you are even a 1000000000000th of a fraction of what this great women is, then feel free to comment x

  • Must be an Angel singing.Hope to meet her one day Over the Rainbow LOVE

  • simply the best

  • Live music simply does not get much better than this.

  • Voice of an angel probably.

  • How does she do that? My goodness...

  • Not a bad guitar player, either.

  • Judy who??

  • Takes my breath away :)

  • a gift never forgotten

  • This song reminds me of a very special Lady I know...

    G,

  • Amazing!

  • the best version i have ever heard. ;)

  • Simply beautiful. Cant say anything more than that.

  • Thank you, Eva.

  • What an empty landscape without Eva Cassidy !

She was very brave and patient during her illness

Now she is somewhere over the rainbow

  • @justynaija She will defiantly won't be forgotten. Such a warm and strong person... I would of loved to have known her in person...

  • angels can sing, simply the most devine voice ever xxx

    Sadly missed Eva

    Love Lord Kerris

  • So nice to see a video Eva. What a great spirit.

  • This is THEE best version of this song I have ever heard.

  • She was from this planet.

    How special.

  • This world really has lost a special person. I have nothing but respect and love for this woman. May you Rest In Peace.

  • stunning

  • Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Christina.....this is how it's done.

  • Does anyone know the date of her "Live at Pearls" recording of this song?

  • So beautiful...

  • I´m crying.

  • WOW!!! The greatest female vocalist I've ever heard !!!

  • Couldn't be any better, and they say there is no such thing as perfection...

  • Comment removed

  • I don't know if I will ever hear the voice of an angel... but if I do, I bet it will sound just like this...

  • THE WORLDS GREATEST FEMALE VOICE EVER,

PITCH PERFECT, PURE AND CRYSTAL CLEAR. AN ANGEL SINGS !!

  • just beautiful.

  • simply too good for this world..

  • gone too soon...

  • Beautiful, Amazing voice..like none other =) gives me goose bumps every time I listen to it

  • wow

  • this takes me beyond jealousy. But... at least someone can sing like that.

    And I'm a guy

  • I've known of her for at least 10 years now. She was absolutely incredible. This live version is great! I have several CDs and glad to find these performances. Never thought to look here before. Very much our loss and music's loss.

  • Everything Eva ever recorded, was live.

  • Perfection is a term that doesn't do this justice. To think she had a cold when this was recorded.

  • Stunning !

  • truly stunning xxx

  • its even better than on the recording ive never heard anything this amazing live!

  • <3

  • I was introduced to Eva's music 10 years ago and was simply stunned by the beauty of her voice. It seems the trend these days is to bombard people with noise, cookie-cutter singers (all trying to sound like Mariah or Beyonce),or slick soulless tunes utilizing minimal notes and minimal melody that are overly repetitive. I can't tell you how happy I am to find all the "Eva Treasures" here. She was one-of-a-kind and sorely missed. When I am "Over The Rainbow",I hope to hear her sing live again..

  • what a beautiful rendition of this song ,to me its better than the original.you just dont hear this kind of vocalizing anymore, she was just a natural talent who sang from deep inside we may never hear anything like this again...thank you Eva...... RIP......

  • I had never heard of Eva until a few years ago, they played this on 'TOTP2'. Both I and my son were simply knocked sideways by it. An amazing voice, and wonderful rendition of this piece.

  • Someone told me about Eva last year. After hearing her I keep pressing on and believing in true music from the soul !!!! What a gift she was to all of us !!!!!!

  • decades from now someone will find a recording of her singing and be as amazed as we are now her legend will deepen and she will shine for all time

  • This is truly one of the most exquisite performances ever! This version of "Over the Rainbow" has never been published before. But I understand a new album called "Simply Eva" will be released in January 2011. This recording will be on it.

  • apparently - according to her mother - this VOICE was fully formed from the start. i take this as singular proof that God exists.....

  • Eva would have been so happy to see that she stirred our souls and hearts to such heights! and this is a girl I never knew existed a week ago !! sing with the angels Eva , hopefully I will hear you live again one day..

  • If a Picture is worth a Thousand words, then this Video must be worth a Billion. Just be thankful that we have the Sound of her, since that is the most incredible of all!!!!!!!

  • Amazing...makes me cry everytime I listen to this.

  • God heard Eva singing that night and decided she was too angelic of a voice to leave here on earth! So He took her to that place... "Somewhere Over The Rainbow!" RIP sweet Eva!

  • she was not from this planet.

  • @razorbacker63 yes she was which makes this even better!

  • The day the music died - isn't limited to just Buddy Holley, but to the likes of Karen Carpenter and Eva Cassidy, both whom God blessed with beautifully unique voices, BUT also the PERFECTION and MASTERY of the instruments they played while singing their masterpieces. A great loss to the world...

  • i accidently stumbled across this girl....i'm so glad i did....that is one rare talent

  • * true genius....

  • This is one of the best live performances ever... I love all music, but mainly rock, but everytime I hear this it almost brings me to tears. Eva could portray such emotion in her singing, a try genius...

  • tranquil

  • It is really great to see someone doing what they were really meant to do. Even if they were given only a small amount of time to do it. Brightest candles often burn quickest don't they. Not only was that a great performance, that arrangement was fantastic. And how does someone put that much emotional affect into a song? Amazing...

  • @PowerliftingWSM i can't stop crying each time that ihear this song it is vocaly incredible

  • Here is the link to the ABC Nightline story a lot of people have been asking for:

    abcnews.go.com/Nightline/video/rainbow--10170062

  • @jrmhs168

the site works intermittently .. if unable to access go to abcnews.go.com then in their search tab enter Eva Cassidy it should be the first option -Over the Rainbow. A great show.

  • Alberto, conhece essa versão?

  • wow i love eva cassidy's voice she was one amazing woman and i think her voice will remain in my heart forever i wish my voice would be as pure as hers ;)

  • The most beautiful falsetto ever! :)

  • @brucetorce falsetto is a man singing in a womans voice hense FALSE-etto.

she would be either alto or soprano, probably a mix of both and able to do all.

but definitely she is not a man pretending to be a woman

  • Beautiful.

  • wow oh wow...

  • I've been a fan for a long time, and yet every time I hear Eva... it brings me to tears. Both tears of sadness and tears of joy.

  • out of this world. sublime.

  • as a avid fan of motorcycle road racing i have seen the the best come and go also lost so many great mates when i find myself missing them all i do is listen to eva sing this i shed tears but it always makes me remeber they are all at the great race track in the sky.

thankyou so much eva this means so much to me

  • Wow simply bliss, heavenly

  • This performance is for me simply soulfully beautiful!

  • There are only 3 times, ever, that I have fell off my sofa while listening to a song. Gldys Night, M. Carey both at the 2005 BET awards. And this song. I Just slid off the sofa to the floor from excitement of such a beautiful voice. I told evryone about it. Later, I heard this song in a documntry. I found out Eva had died. I had so many tears it looked like someone threw a cup of water on my face. Such a beautiful girl. I love this song. I love this song. Maybe I'll hear it again some day.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, What a singer! Fantastic.

  • I couldnt agree with you more scott6113! Its astonishing that there are 'artists' (i use the term very loosely!) in the charts today that cant sing a note in tune and she was turned down by music boses for being too diverse!!!!!!!!!!!

    There's something wrong there!

  • Brilliant!

  • One of the greatest vocalists of her century!!!!!!

    Greatly missed!

  • Ein Traumlied !

  • Better than Judy Garland!

  • Best version yet !!!

  • She's gone now. Sometimes I think we're all here for learning, and when we've learned what we came here for, we go.

Somewhere there are moments like these, little coffeeshops, clubs, someone trying to make it, giving the audience more than anyone already famous. Go out and see. You might catch one.

And you know, it was undiagnosed melanoma that got her, too young. If we had universal health care, maybe she'd be with us still. Something's wrong with a society that makes an Eva Cassidy disposable

  • Simply the best.

  • it gets no better than this. ive never hit the replay thing this many times, ever.

  • My girlfriend and I have been searching for 'Our tune'. This is the most beautiful sound ever recorded. My work is done. Love and peace to all.

  • Thank you to All That Is for making Eva Cassidy.

  • Some adaptations of songs are pretentious and some are pure magic. This falls into the second catagory. What makes this so special is that she pours her soul onto the stage. Beautiful, simply beautiful.

  • There is no way I can listen to this without ending up in floods of tears by the end of the song. Beautiful. Thank you for posting it.

  • she sang with grace and ease

  • I heard her for the first time on Mtv this recording and stood listening as a small being meets a dragon which will devour it. I was a music student thent. I am still it's student. I am forever her student.

  • i tear each time i listen to her sing...it's just beautiful. absolutely beautiful
