@GibboSpazz Either while you're in the blue mage job or while you have Learning equipped, you have to be struck the spell you wish to learn. Sadly at this point, you may be unable to learn a lot of the better ones.
Luckily, there's a boss in the Void that has every single blue magic spell, and if you can keep yourself alive against him long enough, you can learn a lot of them from him.

I didn't bother with the Blue Mage class, I didn't do much with Time Mage (particularly cause those spells are expensive), and I'm just past this point with only Ifrit and Titan as summons. Looks to me like Faris has a Healing Staff of some kind equipped, and he accidentally made her physically attack Gilgamesh. After all, she did the same thing to Lenna at 4:15.
My team finishing the game was Samurai and Mimes, The technique Mimic allows the others to use GPToss too without knowing it XD it was 5000 damage every attack.. XD

I always thought using a red mage was a bad idea since there's a limit to how powerful their spells can be. It's okay at the beginning, but it's GLARING by the middle or end of the game. Props on finding a use for "blowfish" though

gilgamesh was a hero from the 1660BC era. he was a huge person who actually chose to use an axe in the story of himself and the deomn humbaba who attempted murder on gilgameshes friend shamash.

mighty guard: The name of the monster is stingray. you'll find it in the water southern the phoenix tower. It appears very very very rarely. You have to control it! If you have the gba version you can fight that monster also in the extra dungeon where the guy want a Behemoth. There it's much easier to find one.

And I don't believe FF7 is over rated. I think it deserves everything it gets about it being called great. It was a great game, nice amount of playtime, a lot of stuff to do with sidequests that would take a LONG time, first 3D FF in the series. The storyline was excellent.
Umbreon, yeah right man the story line was amazing, the sidequest is what made the game so damn good, it added character development such as Barret's hometown, it showed who pretty much who he was and red XIII it showed you his character, its what me love the game, unlike FFXII....No character development, good graphics but the story line just didn't cut it...Feel free to flame me all you want. :)
See, you've made sort of a mistake there. The Characters were great, yes, except for the emo crowd.
The STORY itself suffered from massive contusions and stupid writing, not to mention the entire concept of Sephiroth. He wasn't even the REAL villain....the real villain is Jenova, but she gets sidelined for the prettyboy.
Well its true that Jenova was the villain in the first place but she shouldn't carry it out world destruction so Sephiroth stepped in, and the story to me didn't confuse me...i understood it crystal clear (i played it about 5 times all the way through, first couple of times i didn't understand it so i just went through it again) but i thought it had a really good plot...their is alot to it so i guess its easy to misunderstand it, and to be honest, cloud's pic looked alot cooler then it does now.
FF7 will always be overrated, because there are too many people who will drool over pretty boys and emo characters. I found FF7 to be a good game...but it's mechanics severely broken, the way through too easy, and the characters to fail right after Aeris was removed.
I take back what I said about the scene. Looking at it again, it's an awesome scene. What I meant to say was that FF5 was a letdown for me since I just finished the amazing FF6.
Oh yeah you thumbs down my comment. I'm sure you love Exdeath's very original laugh "Mwaaa haa haa" and his original personality. He's like the sterotypical villain.

Don't you mean that Square made Final Fantasy 1 for the FC/NES as a last resort to get back in business? Since FF1 was such a huge hit,they decided to continue the series which became the most popular RPG type games. FF7 is too over rated when in reality it isn't THAT great. Meh, Its honestly one of my least favorites, but its not BAD. Incedentially, I somehow liked FF3 more on the nes, even though the graphics, sound, and battle system were inferior.
I got all the way to the end of this, except the last dungeon, but I didnt have the heart to play farther. I tried the GBA version, and barely did that place where the castle's on fire, or something.
That said, this particular point of the game is epic.

I just think FF5 is underrated, but many liked the storyline in FF7, annd the battle system. Plus it was a huge turning point in the series, being the first 3D game in the series, being made entirely of polygons, receiving the most recognition.
Pointing out small details in FFVII to make it sound simplistic and dull, while pointing out one of the major parts of the story in FFV to make it sound better doesn't actually prove it has a better story. Sure, people shun FFV, but don't allow that to make you so bitter. I'm sure people will get to experience FFV once it is remade for the DS (or the PSP).
All in all, they're both great games, but I do dislike how FFVII is so overrated, while other FF games are practically ignored.

it brought RPG's into the mainstream in american gaming. a huge turning point in this genre. don't forget that many people had probably never even heard of final fantasy until FF7 was released, and therefore is probably their first RPG ever played. i know it was mine. if it weren't for FF7 i wouldn't have probably never played FF4, 5, or 6 or any other FFs that came after it.

you don't have to like the game, but you should at least give respect to it. it's impact in the gaming industry was huge. much bigger than ff3(VI) could ever achieve. there's a reason why ff7 is the greatest selling FF of all time...
I agree with you that FF7 is probably the greatest selling FF of all time, sales do not necessarily mean greatness. I honestly feel that FF6 is the greatest FF, and I wish more people would play it. However, there are a lot of people I know who cannot go backwards in terms of games. With the PS3, Wii, and XBox 360 out, they cannot go back to the games with crappier graphics. This could be a possible barrier preventing the older FFs from getting as many sales as FF7.

the FF series never made a serious splash in the gaming industry until 7. 7 put FF on the map, along with putting the whole RPG genre in general on the map. that's why FF7 is so great in it's own right, not to mention it IS a good game regardless of what people's opinions are.
greatness may not = sales, but various gaming sites and magazines giving it a 9.0+ rating is saying something isn't it? and no these ratings are not just given by writers and critics. they are also given by the thousands of gamers like you and me.

Thief's sprint ability is nice. You can use it to skip all the fights here except gilgamesh.
Also if you use it in the final room and of the rift and run to exdeath he will dissappear.

I've always got a huge kick out of the Job system, it's so fun to play around with different combinations and be like "hey this works!".

One of the first epics ever written, to be exact. From the ancient Mesopotamian region(present day Iraq). Gilgamesh took on the pursuit of everlasting life. The Epic of Gilgamesh was also the first story to chronicle a "great flood" and a couple other staples of ancient literature.

The mythology of Leviathan is cool as well, it tells of the serpent Leviathan (duh!) who had to be defeated before the world could be populated.
I love that part of the Old Testament.

Blowfish: Lamia in the airship with the last cristall or Cactus in the dessert before you reach the forest with Mogs.
mighty guard: The name of the monster is stingray. you'll find it in the water southern the phoenix tower. It appears very very very rarely. You have to control it! If you have the gba version you can fight that monster also in the extra dungeon where the guy want a Behemoth. There it's much easier to find one.

And I don't believe FF7 is over rated. I think it deserves everything it gets about it being called great. It was a great game, nice amount of playtime, a lot of stuff to do with sidequests that would take a LONG time, first 3D FF in the series. The storyline was excellent.

Umbreon, yeah right man the story line was amazing, the sidequest is what made the game so damn good, it added character development such as Barret's hometown, it showed who pretty much who he was and red XIII it showed you his character, its what me love the game, unlike FFXII....No character development, good graphics but the story line just didn't cut it...Feel free to flame me all you want. :)

See, you've made sort of a mistake there. The Characters were great, yes, except for the emo crowd.
The STORY itself suffered from massive contusions and stupid writing, not to mention the entire concept of Sephiroth. He wasn't even the REAL villain....the real villain is Jenova, but she gets sidelined for the prettyboy.

Well its true that Jenova was the villain in the first place but she shouldn't carry it out world destruction so Sephiroth stepped in, and the story to me didn't confuse me...i understood it crystal clear (i played it about 5 times all the way through, first couple of times i didn't understand it so i just went through it again) but i thought it had a really good plot...their is alot to it so i guess its easy to misunderstand it, and to be honest, cloud's pic looked alot cooler then it does now.

FF7 will always be overrated, because there are too many people who will drool over pretty boys and emo characters. I found FF7 to be a good game...but it's mechanics severely broken, the way through too easy, and the characters to fail right after Aeris was removed.

I take back what I said about the scene. Looking at it again, it's an awesome scene. What I meant to say was that FF5 was a letdown for me since I just finished the amazing FF6.

Definitly one of the best FF,and one of the best gameplays ever.The jobs were great,and was sooo incredible to see exdeath breaking the seal,to cross the big bridge,exdeath fighting with galuf.One of my prefered FFs ever :P
Too bad that is downrated,like FF9(my prefered one),becausa hit between 2 famous Final Fantasies(4 and 6).

The original Final Fantasy wasn't supposed to have any sequals. That's why it was called final fantasy- it was supposed to be the last game the maker made before retiring. Good thing he decided to continue making games!

The other systems in the competition at one point were taking the Play Station down, so they made a game called Final Fantasy as the last game made. But it got such huge hits, the PS1 stayed in business and continued in this series.

Don't you mean that Square made Final Fantasy 1 for the FC/NES as a last resort to get back in business? Since FF1 was such a huge hit,they decided to continue the series which became the most popular RPG type games. FF7 is too over rated when in reality it isn't THAT great. A lot of kids nowadays don't realize that there are other good FFs besides FF7. FF5 is so under rated since Square released it in 2003 instead of 1991 for America.By that time,FF7 and the PS1 had taken the spotlight.

Nice job! Oh, and for Final Fantasy 5 haters, this is a great game if you're willing to play it for the game play, not for the story. I'm talking about the job system. Why do people hate FF5 so much yet they love FF7 even though it had a weak story. Besides, so what if Sephiroth murdered a girl and burned a village, Exdeath sent many people to the Cleft of Dimensions and killed them. FF7 is so over rated and FF5 is under rated. Come on, cut this game some slack, it's from 1992.Get SNES version.

Meh, Its honestly one of my least favorites, but its not BAD. Incedentially, I somehow liked FF3 more on the nes, even though the graphics, sound, and battle system were inferior.
I got all the way to the end of this, except the last dungeon, but I didnt have the heart to play farther. I tried the GBA version, and barely did that place where the castle's on fire, or something.
That said, this particular point of the game is epic.

I just think FF5 is underrated, but many liked the storyline in FF7, annd the battle system. Plus it was a huge turning point in the series, being the first 3D game in the series, being made entirely of polygons, receiving the most recognition.

Pointing out small details in FFVII to make it sound simplistic and dull, while pointing out one of the major parts of the story in FFV to make it sound better doesn't actually prove it has a better story. Sure, people shun FFV, but don't allow that to make you so bitter. I'm sure people will get to experience FFV once it is remade for the DS (or the PSP).
All in all, they're both great games, but I do dislike how FFVII is so overrated, while other FF games are practically ignored.

it brought RPG's into the mainstream in american gaming. a huge turning point in this genre. don't forget that many people had probably never even heard of final fantasy until FF7 was released, and therefore is probably their first RPG ever played. i know it was mine. if it weren't for FF7 i wouldn't have probably never played FF4, 5, or 6 or any other FFs that came after it.

you don't have to like the game, but you should at least give respect to it. it's impact in the gaming industry was huge. much bigger than ff3(VI) could ever achieve. there's a reason why ff7 is the greatest selling FF of all time...

I agree with you that FF7 is probably the greatest selling FF of all time, sales do not necessarily mean greatness. I honestly feel that FF6 is the greatest FF, and I wish more people would play it. However, there are a lot of people I know who cannot go backwards in terms of games. With the PS3, Wii, and XBox 360 out, they cannot go back to the games with crappier graphics. This could be a possible barrier preventing the older FFs from getting as many sales as FF7.

the FF series never made a serious splash in the gaming industry until 7. 7 put FF on the map, along with putting the whole RPG genre in general on the map. that's why FF7 is so great in it's own right, not to mention it IS a good game regardless of what people's opinions are.
