hey i have a question. How can i connect my studio monitors to the ux2. Each monitor requires its own AUX cable but then im only able to connect 1 because theres only 1 speakers input in the ux2.
@masterofjustice88 can be both, and more. you can use it as a mic preamp if u record a cab with a mic, as a DI for your guitar, as a DI from your amp output if it has one, and other stuff too.
@ShimmySystem Yes you can. See "POD Farm 2 Recording Setup Guide - Audio Driver Configuration" manual for UX2 at line6.com. UX2 and UX1 can send 2x separate stereo track, UX8 8x stereo track, POD XT 1x stereo track. Those gears send separate signal and of course you have to use line6ASIO drivers in your DAW to recognize separate signal and then you can record it. Look through the manual. (Chapter 2.5)
@adelarge88 this thing has a built in processor, so it handles stuff on it's own. it also has it's own audio card so everything is inside that boxie :D this reduces latency as much as possible I think
all i can really find are pod interface for recording, i was wondering if anyone knew if i could just buy pod farm or the recording soft ware and the buy a plug in instead of the hole thing , or just whats the cheapest thing i could do for recording
@kitarrikangelanejuzz ...i have the ux 1 version, the one he has is about $200, the ux1 is 160 all together that i recomend to you because its the same thing, only you can only record yourself and a vocalists really the ux2 is more for like band recordings and personal use as well i guess
hi! how does it work?? i have never used one of these, always played trough an amp, how i should use one of these? i mean should i make this connection: guitar--->amp--->audio interface---->pc
or
guitar----->audio interface--->pc
sorry for ignorance but i haven't ever use one of this...
I was wondering this as well, I play drums but I would get this for my guitar player, Can the guitar and bass player each have an amp going but also send a clean signal to the UX2 for recording and later processing. (Just have the amp so everyone else can hear who is playing at the same time)
hi! how does it work?? i have never used one of these, always played trough an amp, how i should use one of these? i mean should i make this connection: guitar--->amp--->audio interface---->pc
or
guitar----->audio interface--->pc
sorry for ignorance but i haven't ever use one of this...
@ivncdo0809 guitar----->audio interface--->pc mate. Are if u have a decent mic,
Guitar----amp------mic-----interface---pc--- (if you want to use your own amp). there is pod studio(Amp models+Fx ) and ableton live lite included so u can record. :) hope that answerd your question :)
@ivncdo0809 It's guitar----->audio interface---->pc mate. The ux2 is like an audio interface like guitar rig so you just plug in your guitar in to the jack, fire up the software it comes with then play. Your standard pc speakers will colour the sound a bit but you can hook up external speakers via the back.
@knguro This one is called a Toneport UX2, the black one a Podstudio UX2, but I do believe the hardware is the same. The software that comes with it is diferent. It used to be at least. The red one brings Gearbox software. The black one brings Podfarm (which in my mind is a better product-more recent and with a better user interface).
no on and off switch on this unit so how do u turn it off? can i just unplug the usb cable from the compture to turn it off will this hurt my ux2? or do i have to leave the usb cable from the compture than turn it off?
I would buy this or a GX though, the sounds and flexibility are awesome. You can pre eq your sound quite easily and get exactly the sound you want right up front.
I have the GX i had problems with it, it is really cool but i had a problem with the sound i only got it out of my left speaker so i took it a part and fixed it myself because it was discontinued the converted it in to the line 6 POD studio but definately go for ux2
I have a Toneport GX and if it's anything like that, it is good BUT the recording latency in cakewalk was very high as compared to a cheap MAudio sound card. You almost need to have a PC for the sound and run it out to hardware or another PC with a low latency card.
This may be different, but they all use the Tone Direct monitoring so that might tell you something.
does anyone know any other recording software which are free or cheaper than ableton live. i bought my toneport ux2 but ableton live is just a demo and is so damn expensive.
couple questions, id like to use this as a preamp into a head for poweramp into my celestion loudspeakers. how to accomplish this. can i just connect the line out from the tone port to the input of my 100w head?
also, im really after a scooped mids sound. like trivium manages to do oh so well. how convincing is it on this unit?
im not into spending 5,000 on a rack for that sound lol, but a very close copy would be nice!
love the mic inputs on this too, have you done much with the mics?
so can you get nice death metal tones from these things without buying the metal shop add on? it doesnt have to be perfect, i just have to make an extra 50 bucks to buy the metal shop
HELP!!!!!!!, me and some of my friends are trying to start a band and write our own music but we are kinda clueless on the recording part of it, is this a good choice for a couple of high school kids with a limited amount of money
hi, does this thing come with a beat maker in the softwear? I need to record my backing as well as my guitar in to my pc. Any help would be greatfull.
So basically, wiht this software my sound is limited by the speaker i have on my pc . i dont have great speakers , i have a orange tiny terror and orange ppc12 cab here... is that ugnna go to waste? ?
It is a direct guitar to usb interface, The guitar connects to the toneport, the software emulates the amp chosen. You can plug a guitar into it and no it isnt designed to work with a keyboard, but feasibly it could work.
Thinking of buying a Toneport UX2, though I'm not sure whether I want this 1 with an external midi-keyboard or Toneport KB37 with an integrated keyboard. Separate products will make it easier to handle, not having to carry both of them when I'm just gonna use 1, also I will be able to get more than just 37 notes on the keyboard, which is good.
The only negative thing is that I've heard that the UX2 doesn't work very good with midi, does anyone know anything about that?
Hi! I have a question....I have the same interface than you... and you that it came with a CD to record right? Life Live I think it's how it's call.
Well every time I run GearBox it works very good but as soon as I run the other program while the other is working... my computer freez :S and I also noticed that if the GearBox is runnig everything in my computer that involves sound, like videos, windows media player.. everything freez!
Hey vids a taddd old, but I was wondering if you ever knew or found any footswitch kinda thing you could hook this up to just to switch between settings and effects with your foot like a stompbox instead of having to click around and whatnot?
The toneport ux2 includes the line6 amp models basic bundle which rocks! I upgraded to the gold bundle. It also came with Ableton Live lite demo which I upgraded to the Live 6.10 with the instument package for $349.00 2 years ago....STEAL! Both products are #1 as far as I'm concerned!
You have a direct out in the back that you can run to a Hifi amp or powered speakers and you have a monitor out which i am guessing is for the direct monitoring of signal as you record/play. Muck around with different connections into whatever you want to monitor from whether it be your home stereo, powered monitors or amp.
no its delay playing guitar filck bottom 3 strings and play top one at same time as first one technique used in classical guitar but there are plenty other methods on how to make that sort of sound.. He either pre recorded one and played bit on top or vica versa or played chord individually playing notes... Something like that :)
Im either getting this or the GX toneport...idk which yet. But they both sound AWESOME to me, and I cant tell much difference between them, so Im sorta leaning towards the GX. WHat kind of effect were you using, and what guitar and amp(or do you need an amp if you are recording with this?)thanks for looking at my billions of questions. :D
If your just gonna stick to your guitar then you should buy the GX, but if in the future your thinking of buying a vocal mic then get this.(DONT GET THE UX1!, i have one and because it doesnt provide 48v+ i have to buy an adapter for 2o to power my condenser mic)
Apart from that there isn't really a difference.
But yeahh,
if your gonna record vocals in the future, from my experience get this (Y) itl save you cash later on.
I don't know if you have it fixed yet, but the on-the-disc drivers for vista don't work (or are non-existant depending on when you bought it). Go to the Line6 website and download the vista drivers there, that should get you up an running again.
I got Gearbox working on XP sp2 and worked fine. Then I installed vista 64bits and installed the special gearbox/drivers version for it and it's working fine. Just be sure than if you are on vista64 you have to install the special gearbox version that you can find on the line6 website.
i have a line 6 spider III 75W. could i run my guitar thru my amp and run a cord from the "direct/headphone out" to the toneport UX2? i want to get the same tone i get when i play thru my amp.
Can sound be recorded fristly then effects put over it at all? or that is not possible? Thanks

Yes the Gearbox is plugged into the computer via USB. No power supply needed.

I don't know if you have it fixed yet, but the on-the-disc drivers for vista don't work (or are non-existant depending on when you bought it). Go to the Line6 website and download the vista drivers there, that should get you up an running again.

in all the review i read there are lots of complaints about the ableton live software just being a demo.
except, no one's really specific abbout any of the drawbacks or extra downloads you have to make.
itd be much appreciated if someone could fill me in on the flaws.
(just ordered mine today xD)
please and thank you

I got Gearbox working on XP sp2 and worked fine. Then I installed vista 64bits and installed the special gearbox/drivers version for it and it's working fine. Just be sure than if you are on vista64 you have to install the special gearbox version that you can find on the line6 website.
