  • In my opinion this live version is much better than the CD one. I wish they recorded it in studio

  • Beautiful melodies, sweeping chords, and inspired vocals. You couldn't ask for a better Radiohead song off of In Rainbows. Those boys are always keeping it tight.

  • best version , this shut be on the cd

  • this version is amazing specially the riff at the end is great, they should of kept it i think... boith versions are great

  • is it weird that this song makes me cry because of the loneliness i felt?

  • No.

  • no...but that is what is beautiful about radiohead in my eyes

i listen to in rainbows only with my headphones and put myself in another complete world..which feels sad but is the most incredible experience i have and it is what i look forward to when i get home from studying

  • i am thrilled

  • i like this version alot better. i understand the subtle textures of the album version but this simply works better in my opinion. its has alot more emotion and edge.

  • i love Radiohead

  • Ever since I learned how to play this song, no matter how many other songs I learn from other artists, eventually and oftenly I end up playing this after any song I play. This song is truly incredible.

  • makes me cry awsome song really

  • i can't believe how many times i have watched this video, it's just so incredible!

  • The outro in this version is orgasmic.

  • finally someone brought a REAL camera to a concert. Cheers mate keep'em coming.

  • The studio version works in a different way. The recorded track subtly stresses each of the layers that build the song. The live version is to get people moving and excited, as any live rock song should do. I don't think this would work as well on the album.

That being said, I wish they had used a few orchestral flourishes or some other instrumentation because the performance of Arpeggi at the Ether Festival still drops my jaw.

  • this version trumps the album version.

it's the drums. they sound so much more agressive than on the album version. they need the reverb, so they dont sound so dry. same with the guitars.

  • song in sounding better live shocker.

nah, you are spot on though.

  • In regards to IR - this is the only song in which I prefer the 2006 live renditions to the final recorded version. And only JUST, at that. (the differences are reasonably subtle, but there are many)

  • Oh, I do really like having the bridge (in the recorded version) at the end of the song, though - so I can't complain.

  • in rainbows is radioheads relaxing album but does anyone think if nigel was on his game in rainbows could have been such a boss fucking monster album such a big sound. this, jigsaw, bodysnatchers, all i need and videotape didnt translate

  • The production on the album is superb - if you're gonna blame anyone for how different it sounds, blame Thom.

  • That's absolutely right. For example, "Super Collider" is in the same vein as "Reckoner" and "Videotape." It's just been yet untouched by Nigel and Jonny. Find a video of "Super Collider" and fall asleep.

  • in the deepest ocean

    the botton of the sea

    your eyes

    they turn me

  • I was there!

    and I love this song!

  • GOD those distorted guitars are sexy.

  • I think the transition between the first half and second half is much better in this version, but I also think the studio version is much more emotional. Buuuut whatever!

  • i disagree with you guys i think the studio version is much better, the best song on in rainbows

  • i like this version better, but each to their own.

  • jonny > thom

  • Jonny=Thom=Colin=Ed=Phil

Without any one of them, Radiohead would not be Radiohead. They're all equal in their genius.

  • @RadiatorAss

    you don't even know them

  • I can't express how much I agree with you.

  • i've got no words... if i were there i would have died by pleasure...

though i love this magic song on the record there is something really special in this version...

  • I still prefer this version to the one on the album. There's just something so magical about it that was not captured on the record.

  • i never listened to a song as much as this

only 2 sounds can hope to precede or follow it in my life, silence or the rest of in rainbows.

and only johnny could look like such a bad ass next to a messiah like thom.

  • Wow... just wow.

  • damn...2:56 to 3:09 are some of the sickest changes ever

  • I get shivers listening to this song... it might be the best Radiohead composition ever... god, this is so perfect

  • hell yeah

  • this is my fave radiohead song out of em all.. excelent

  • Wow this is such an incredible performance... this version is way better than the studio one by far.

  • Really great song got the cd absolutly amazing

  • thanks for the perspective, female

.. ,money talent, looks , pull that election lever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!woman

  • thanks ,fucking so excellent , a wonderful find on youtube -5 stars everybody!!!!!!

  • its actually better this one, than the one on the cd.. and the craziest thing; i was there!!!!

  • The lighting makes it so much better.

  • Live blows the studio version millions of miles away

  • Estoy muy de acuerdo

  • it's one of my favorites

  • T.T Im In SouthAmerica ¬¬ Will Take A While..

  • when ur depressed, this song is so inspirating

  • this is a sick song. it gives me the chills, especially the last 2 minutes or so. it's great to run to

  • Wow! I agree! And running to *this* live version, in particular, is fantastic.

  • Few songs give me goosebumps as this one does.

  • a masterpiece

  • theres a late december release for the CD and traditional formats ..in most stores

  • duz eney1 know if the album will ever get to the strors?

  • 31st of december in europe and a few days later north america.

  • yay good thing that im in europe..

    thnx

  • I like the outro sooo much better in the Live version... It's godlike.

  • yeah, agreed. also the outro on the either one is wicked too. the studio one isn't that good.

  • Thanks for posting this, it's my favourite off the album so far.

  • I like this start more than the album version

  • But the album one has a much better finish.

  • ya the album version is more clear. it also gives more of a euphoric feel to it. this song is great to run to

  • your eyes .. they turn me .

  • This video is ridiculously awesome. I've been watching it everyday, maybe 2 or 3 times on some days.

  • Actually not There There, I meant 2 + 2 = 5, momentary brain shut down sorry, those backing vocals are incredible, sound like the album itself. There there is, however, very good as well.

  • Ed does backing vocals where Johnny does not. Ed has actually a very good backing vocal voice to complement toms. I was surprised to here how good he actually is. Take a listen ( and watch) at the live there there video his backing vocals are spot on.

  • I love this song <3

  • Why would you feel sorry for Ed? He's an accomplished guitarist, he plays in the best band in the world, he's wealthy, he's smart, he's handsome, he has a good life... So?..Hmm?

  • i feel sorry for ed sometimes

  • remarkably stupid drum beat. Ether festival version is a timeless classic. the drums make it silly and poppy.

  • Thom Yorke is 38 years old in this video

And I'm a bot, who makes automatic blogs

I don't belong here. Ok? Computer?

    radioheadvideo. blogspot. com

  • I hope they come to Brazil next year...

  • oddly enough, they recently announced they'd bring their tour to argentina and brazil this year, so you're in luck.

  • this band gives me chills... always

  • "your eyes,they turn me"...What a lyric...reminds me of CREEP.

  • *drool*

*living in a puddle of drool*

    Such good music!

  • this one and jigsaw, all i need :)

  • I'm going to cream myself.

How the hell can anyone be so good?

Holy Crap, Elevated to Holy Shit.

  • Best song definitely. (i hope i spelled that right). Although i prefer how the live version begins, but otherwise the studio version is utter Ecstasy!

  • Best song right next to Jigsaw Falling Into Place

  • glad to hear I am not the only one who thinks this is the best song on the album

  • FROM the album perhaps, though I dont agree, but the studio version is inferior.

  • They never cease to amaze as they pull an otherwise obscure song into art while transforming it into a studio worthy version.

  • Im glad Im not alone in thinking it the best song...I can listen to this song over and over. Nice little one-two punch on the album, this and then "All I Need".The In Rainbows A-side may be one of the best A-sides they've ever had.

  • Nah not even close.

  • yeah. not even close.

  • Hey I just found the lorax on your page, thanks, haha.

  • this is a great preformance of a great song

  • the best song from the new album so far..

    definately my favorite song..

    love this album

  • This is already a Radiohead classic. Definitely the best song on the new album. I can't see myself getting bored of this. The chord progressions and growth of the song instills me feelings that I don't care about everything else going on in my life and that this piece of music that I'm listening is all that matters!

Being an avid pianist, I love the fact that I can sit down and easily recreate this by myself and enjoy the awesomeness of it all :)

    Radiohead - holy crap!

  • Ugh, sorry I was drunk when writing this! Excuse the grammatical errors :P

  • Drunk or not, that was a good bit of writing :)

  • Heh. Holy crap, indeed.

  • Dreamy Horror...f'ing masterpiece

  • "Dreamy Horror". Exactly, that describes it perfectly. The first part is really dreamy, with the guitars building up this cloudy sound wall, it gets more and more confusing and then it breaks. That's when the second part kick in with the organ and that kickass bass riff. The chord progression here is so f'cking creepy, reminds me of an old horrorpicture.

Definitely best song on In Rainbows, and please GOD make them record the orchestrial version, would make awesome b-side for a single!!!!

  • incredible!

  • dont rate the bridge, everything else is gold

  • This is by far my favourite song of the album. I love it so much I ordered the box set after downloading the album.

    Genius. Love IT!!!!!!

  • A.W.E.S.O.M.E!

  • i agree with matandote, the guitars on this one sound a lot better

incredible song, along with the orchestra version

  • this song makes me cry. Masterpiece.

  • i think the live version are better i like that there's more "umph" in the guitar and it's almost echoey so it sounds nicer, and i don't like that the album version starts with the drums

  • I have to agree!

I would have liked the background vocals to be quieter and more distant (drowned in reverb).

Cause I think they make the song sound a little U2-ish

  • I think it really sounds like water...the bottom of the sea

  • i guess the studio version is so called wierd fish because it sounds really wield.... they did it so good in live anyway.

  • i guess the studio version is so called wierd fish because it sounds really wield.... they did it so good in live anyway.

  • this is the best performance of Arpeggi for sure even better than album version ...

  • The IR version of Videotape took a while for me to start to appreciate- though I love it now- but I fell in love with the studio version of this song right away~

  • So far the best Radiohead song in years

  • Yep. For me it has that particular quality of energized mournfulness like street spirit. It's like someone committing suicide just as they emerge from a depression.

  • Wise commentary... perfect analogy

  • second that

  • The problem with the In Rainbows version is the drumming.

It takes too long before he starts hitting the snare, rather than just side hitting with the stick.

  • Well, to mee the In Rainbow versiones really rocks.

  • sorry I blew it! I read "really sucks" instead of rocks! the song is GREAT and the In rainbows version is the best... almost brought me to tears. So that should be a thumbs up for you!

  • This is way better than the album version.....I'm kind of disappointed with the version on In Rainbows

  • Are you serious??!!??! I was afraid of that!!!! that freakin sucks!!! how does it sound? cause there is a different version without the guitars and i didn't like it.

  • it's with guitars, it's similar to this version but it's a little less intense than the live versions I've heard. That's not to say it's bad, I think they did a great job with it. Are you referring to the version with the orchestra?? Don't worry, it rocks ;)

  • couple more hourssssssssssssss

  • i love this song... its AWESOME... my fav song from album!!!

  • A M A Z I N G !!!

i want to see them live again! what a disturbing song... what a beauty in it... what a band!!!

  • Phill sounds like he's almost playing the Amen breakbeat..

  • its quite not the same

  • 7 days!!!

  • I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE 10th!!!

  • i love them i love them i love them

  • 8 DAYS!!!

80 dollars is such a small price to pay for this cd alone, let alone all the goodies that will come with it.

  • 0 dollars is an ever smaller price to pay

  • This is probably the only time anyone will say this to you, but you're right.

  • Ordered the boxset yesterday. This sounds fucking incredible!

  • One could really get lost in this song.

Another example of Radiohead's harmonic brilliance.

  • this song has good arpeggios

  • All there new songs 2 me sound like a newer version of OK COMPUTER kinda idk. which isn't bad at all looks like this could be there best album

  • i know.. so excited..

  • better be on there new album

  • It is.

Almost of the songs played on the 2006 tour are on the two disc set, while the download version contains ten tracks, cutting some of the better known ones such as Down is the New Up and Bangers and Mash.

  • this song gives me the goosebumbs!!!

  • what album is this song on?

  • The yet to be released 7th album.....Well it better be on it.

  • its not realesed yet. but it might be on their new album.

  • I have a feeling that the new record is going to be their best yet.. they are meshing their old style on albums like the bends and OK Computer w/ Kid A and its giving them their best sound yet

  • tom is probably the most talented singer,Im profoundly deaf but'Feel' the speakers. his voice hits the souls that we all cannot feel... what he got, is a gift.

  • heh, look at the peoples heads gently bopping up and down!

  • this song is majorly addictive, i love it especially at 2.55-end !

  • will go down as one of the best songs ever made.

  • damn i like the orchestral version better

  • never.

  • Sounds amazing

  • you do need to listen harder. there is a pretty clear climax.

  • The album is completely finished according to Johnny Greenwood, they just need to find a label to release it on, as they finished their deal with EMI with Hail To The Theif. Probably Feb 2008 at a guess.

  • this song's amazingly beautiful, but the version with the string section and keyboard is the best, i think. i hope they release that on a b-sides or something.

  • they are the best and that's all.

tell me someone: is there new album?

  • yes, there is a new album :)

  • On the way. Can't wait much longer, though!

  • This would seem like the ideal opening track for the album...followed by 15 Step...Radiohead always put their albums into the perfect sequences.

  • Their new cd is good. I like the fact that they have songs with a faster tempo and an upbeat sound. Anticipation for the new cd kills me!

  • You said their new cd is good but then say the anticipation is killing you. WTF do you mean? You expect it to be good or you broke into their studio and stole a "finished" project?

  • no..this is not going to be something like 'the bends' or ok c..or 'kid a'..this is going to be a totally new album, maybe greater than ok computer.i can`t wait !!!!

  • The enigma that is Radiohead. This is a band without the pressure and tedium of being tied down to a record label contract (well as far as we individuals know anyway). I do believe that Radiohead will release a record when they have a contract and decide how they will release it (if even in one LP). I personally can't wait, but I'm not holding my breath on this issue. They have the material I think, is it recorded, mixed, and mastered...hmmm

  • yes, it has been recorded, mixed, and mastered. the album is done, it has been confirmed by the band's PR. it won't be released until 2008 though.

  • Cool, thanks for the response!

  • I have a feeling that this is going to be the opening song on LP7.....

  • the new album isn't out til early 2008 according to the latest news

  • you that seems to be up-to-date on radiohead news.. have you heard anything about a new tour? like when are they going to announce the next tour dates and all that? thanks

  • seems to be nothing as of yet...but maybe a summer tour next year... it could happen, who knows... i doubt they'll tour this year though- too late for all that

  • es el tema que nadara entre tus pensamientos el 2008¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
