Today I got t-boned in my 2007 Toyota Yaris sedan without side air bags, I bet everything I have that if I would have gotten hit on the driver's side I probably would be dead.
the whiplash of both side crashes dislocated the head and neck...which would sever the spinal cord leading to instant death on the spot...no ambulance would ever get there in time..
it's true nobody win's in a car crash, there are "stupid wreckless driver's" that need their driver's license taken away the roads would be safer 4 our friend's and families..........for all the speed demon's find something better to do than ruin people's lives.....my uncle passed away due to a drunk driver driving wrecklessly !!
I agree with that, when we had our wreck, someone cut us off, then slammed on their brakes, because they saw a cop, and it was raining, so we slid into them. It totaled our car, but their truck got to drive away.
Our airbags didn't deploy either, so wtf on Honda's part.
i think this is an excelent crash test (with the side airbigs) especially for how small this car is. i know alot of people who have this car (with power options) and like it alot. but i think now for 09' side airbags are standard? i'm not sure, but i think that may be true.
Yes... mostly SUVs and Pickups get scores from acceptable to good in the side impact test without side airbags because they ride higher than normal cars as a result the impact force is directed to the lower portion of the vehicle's side structure.
Why are sides of cars so dam thin? I mean jeezes cant they but some kind of beam in there to help out a bit? I still dont think these test are accurate. Speed and density and angle determins who wins.
I do agree that the accuracy of these tests are questionable, especially since crashes occur at different angles and vehicle size. Also nobody "wins" in a car crash. I'm pretty sure everyday driving is not a competition unless its destruction derby.

i think Toyota needs to fix the seatbelts.
I mean, this got an acceptable for the head
because it still hit the steering wheel
through the airbag. Even the same problem
with the Highlander and Tundra. Tacoma
too but they IIHS changed it to a Good
for reasons unknown. Toyota made the
seatbelts give up a little to much

Toyota and Honda and many other manufacturers put strength beams in the doors in all new models.
