How does this research help bonobos in the wild? Because, bonobos are the last ape to be discovered and they're numbers in the wild give them decade or less to exist in the wild. It would be a shame they die out and only exist in captivity.
I do find your research interesting but, the animal is more important to me...And it is normal for apes to get really obese like Kanzi in captivity
@ahonestwoman This research contributes to science and our understanding of the acquisition of language, as well as the nature v. nurture argument, and it may even challenge Dr. Noam Chomsky's theories in this field. In addition, it educates the public as to the species and how mankind's activities in the world and in the environment threatens the ape communities in the wild. Science broadens our understanding of the world we live in... we are part of the world, not separate from it.

watch a video of bonobos in the wild, they are slim and in great shape. In captivity they are bloated and overweight much like humans get.
