what i do. is i either use kool aid or jello mix and mix them with dish soap. jello mix isn't as good because it leaves little crystals in the blood. but it will work if you don't have kool aid.

Ok, ignore this tutorial and use equal amounts of yellow and red food coloring and then add green to darken it. The result of this tutorial is the typical "jam" coloured blood.

You'd think so, but that doesn't make it as realistic. Blood is naturally darker than red, you need a bit of blue or green food dye as well. Sometimes people put in flour or corn starch to thicken it too. Fake blood is an art!

Corn syrup is going to be the easiest thing to get. They have it at pretty much every grocery store.

You could try recreating the effect with something like instant food thickener(maltodextrin), knox gelatin, or corn starch. But corn syrup is probably the easiest to find.
