This video is terrifying. That said, there are times in my life when I have to listen to this song over and over and over and over. Times when I'm split, broken and bleeding, like wounded fruit and diseased pianos.
@fallintotheabyss Have you watched the video? There's something terribly wrong with that piano and, for whatever reason, the fruit requires stitches. As for a deeper meaning, well, I could only speculate that it's something very bad.... and maybe a touch of gibberish.
@d28taypres Gotcha. Guess that makes sense. Saw some "wtf do songs mean" page that claimed this is about drug addiction, which I think is a legitimate interpretation (all the stuff about sleep, "you know that I need some," etc.).
Heh, I can see those same transmission towers off my apartment balcony out here in Austin. Almost as dreamy in real life, especially when sitting out there, listening to Spoon, and enjoying a drink on a cloudy winter evening just after sunset...
just brilliant. to me it's always sounded like a loud song in a quiet room. has anybody seen this performed live? i'm terribly curious as to how britt's vocals sound and how they're done, if they're even done in overlays or loops at all.
this has got to be one of the greatest songs ever. i can't even think of anything that sounds like this...can't get it out of my head. and only spoon could do this. love them.
every time i hear this song, i find myself saying 'ga ga ga ga ga ga' along with the piano. that same piano would have absolutely owned the song had the vocals not had the complex overlaying echos britt provides. this song is pure genius.
i have no idea whatsoever why i got this cd, but i randomly listened to his pure genius of music and was instantly got that fuzzy feeling when you listen to good music. now on to this entire album on my badass stereo system.
I'd have to disagree to be honest. The way they develop their songs is subtle and understated. I think that's why they're so great. Nothing sounds contrived or unneccessarily complicated. The songs are so good fundamentally that they don't need to be developed in a major way. Sorry if that makes seem a bit self-important, just my opinion! Great band.
I adore this song so much. Very cool thing (to me, at least) - at about the 2:45 mark, the red blinking cell towers are the same that are seen every day off my apartment balcony out here in west Austin! Woohoo Austin! :D
Good Spoon Song I Summon You I Turn My Camera On Don't Make Me A Target Don't You Ever Sister Jack Chicago At Night The Fitted Shirt Take The Fifth Basicly Listen To These Albums Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga Gimme Fiction Girls Can TellKill The MoonlightLove Ways (EP)

Horrible music, undescribably bland and boring. Just like "I turn my camera on" there is the background sound that doesn't change. Kind of like the bad drumming in every ac/dc song. Why don't people put more time into their music and not making artsy videos that nobody is gonna remember or care about anyways. Fuck Spoon
I'm agree with your opinion on this song, but I'm not quite agree with what you're saying about Spoon. They've got great songs - listen to "Kill the Moonlight", for example: "Back to the Life", "The Way We Get By", "Stay Don't Go" are great records and I didn't mention stuff from "Gimme Fiction". These are my favourite albums. I think they move music.
i think their best stuff is their early stuff, girls can tell and a series of sneaks. also, i saw them on saturday and this was probably the most powerful song they played out of all 21 they had on the set. it was absolutely incredible, and i love nearly everything they've put out, including soft effects, love ways and telephono.
And now they have another new video! I'm so slow in getting the information... Very interesting video. And I LOVE the song. I wish they'd make a video for 'You got yr. cherry bomb' but I guess there's going to be only the two from Ga ga ga ga ga.
No way, I think this video is great. It's kinda like the Radiohead vidie for "Pyramid Song"-ambient, slow moving, colors of the song. It definitely kept my attention.
I wouldn't mind if he was...Heh, I get off everytime he sings "Come on"! It looks like the piano is bleeding- yes, I've heard it is supposed to be chocolate or something, but honestly, some of the imagery wouldn't be out of place in a horror movie.
