Fred Astaire was mentioned in his book as well as numerous interviews, especially during the 80s. He has never taken credit for the moonwalk himself. Honestly, I adore Michael, but I never understood what was so great about Madonna. To me she's just a performer who uses shock value and publicity to mask her lack of talent. "Like a Virgin" has to be one of the most irritating songs ever recorded.
So to me, Madonna and Michael not working together doesn't surprise me. For one, they're not on the same level. Secondly, they're ultra different. MJ's style was about energy, beauty and class. Madonna was about sex and hideous cone bras.

I do actually agree with her on Michael's hair. I love love love his curls but he looked so amazing at the VMA's in 95, in his short haircut. Absolutely gorgeous! However at that time the long hair was great. For the later years I would've wanted him to ditch the long straight wigs but u know, Mike's fabolous in every way ;)

Honestly, I adore Michael, but I never understood what was so great about Madonna. To me she's just a performer who uses shock value and publicity to mask her lack of talent. "Like a Virgin" has to be one of the most irritating songs ever recorded.
So to me, Madonna and Michael not working together doesn't surprise me. For one, they're not on the same level. Secondly, they're ultra different. MJ's style was about energy, beauty and class. Madonna was about sex and hideous cone bras.

I do actually agree with her on Michael's hair. I love love love his curls but he looked so amazing at the VMA's in 95, in his short haircut. Absolutely gorgeous! He created his own style and music and always stood by his guns no matter what people said. He was never a timid person. And as working with Madonna...well, I think they're both brilliant aritsts but just very different. MJ himself said he didn't like lyrics and songs where the sex was just blatantly obvious "I wanna f*ck you ect." it took the class out. He was just classy.

One big diff b/w Madonna & MJ as artists is that while MJ was big on lip service & weak titillation on being "edgy", preferring the OLD THINGS THAT WORKED, M is always full hog on her artistic visions. There's no middle: either do it or not. Be controversial or not. MJ was timid, always played sweet & coy & "childlike innocent" even when he was old already.
Madonna sang, ".. say what you mean, mean what u say or baby I am gone.. this is not a love song.." & w/ MJ, she was again true 2 her word.

For me, Michael Jackson was the biggest-selling, most successful solo male artist of all time. On the other hand, Madonna was the most successful female artist as well. But they were both different people with different lives, and Madonna herself remembers Michael as a gentle, kind soul, even defending him against the press, &on that documentary.

It's ironic many MJ fans see MJ as THE ARTIST of the two yet FAIL to note that art REQUIRES fearlessness w/ the medium. Based on this (and his actual output btw) MJ wasn't fearless at all but often PLAYED IT SAFE, as opposed to Madonna. That's why despite his SUPPOSED greater talent, MJ is dwarfed by Madonna AS AN ARTIST.
Madonna is about moving forward, about testing AND breaking limits, abt making people THINK while they dance OR fuck.

You hear and see ONE Billie Jean performance and you'd seen them ALL.

She's a TRUE artist as her art & body of work always speak of great, relevant themes grand or small. If u'r a true sifter of pop art, u'd know. Her works r much layered than MJ's.

Actually, the Beatles were more the pioneers of videos: Yellow submarine was basically a feature-length music video.
MJ was SENSATIONAL and a phenomenal crossover star esp. w/ Thriller, but many experts say that Madonna is the first to really understand not just the power but the real purpose of videos. More than ANY other, she perfected the aesthetic and thematic potentials of video and made it almost or as important as the music.
Her videos are the BEST. MJ's can't compare.

I enjoy watching an assertive and agressive woman who don't try to hide her femininity. I do enjoy watching a woman who pushes boundaries, thumb her nose at authority figures and who would rather go to strip clubs than Disneyland.
