  • WHAT!? no demonstration?

  • @thebrizzell

Look a little harder at the title.

  • no longer loud with the shop vac ooooooonnnnn

  • I guess you have a lot of wood and a lot of free time

  • Great design. However, searching the net I notice that many are concerned with heat buildup. The one way I would mod your design is to attach your baffle/exhaust to the top of the box so that the heat rising from the vac would naturally escape easier. I imagine one could use 1/2" ply for the bafflle to keep it from getting top heavy. But thats just my 2 cents worth.

  • You did a great job with this build. I too, hate the noise of a shop vac while running, inside a limited area, like a car garage, etc. as the noise seems to be very loud. I am going to build one of these vacuum cabinet with the inlet air baffles...Great Idea. How did you come up with the idea to design inlet air this way?? There is not too many inventions like this, that sort of jumps out at you, but this one definitely does. Makes us want to say to ourselves, why didn't I think of that,!!

  • Ok... I did car stereo for about 10 years... You Gotta be a car stereo guy.

Aka An MDF magician.. A transmission line tuned encloser... Cool

  • @ReiMonCoH ya...you could say I did some car audio. I was installing during the early days when it all blew up 92-97. Custom made boxes....JL Audio was my go to back then.

  • @rawdawgs50 --yup. me too. I started in 92 and got out in 2002. its too bad it all went away, i enjoyed it. OH well.

  • thats cool, but it's like how much is your time worth? I'd rather spend $500 and get a festool dust collector.

  • @arsdag81

It took about 3 hours to build from start to finish and about $30 in materials. I had mine laying around. Although the Festool is a good machine and expensive...I hardly think it could carry around 200lbs of tools on top of it as well. This doubles as a rolling shop cabinet. Its apples and oranges. As far as time is concerned, if your not putting in time in your shop...then this is not much of a hobby for you.

  • @rawdawgs50 @arsdag81 maybe he enjoyed building it.

  • Cool

  • bout a useless video i have ever seen, how bout turning it on?

  • @ZipSnipe If you watch his other videos (Part 2) and (Part 3) you will hear how much of a difference this cabinet makes. There is nothing useless about this.

  • I have a $1 set of earplugs instead

  • @TheBooma72 That is also a great idea......but what about the person in another room who is trying to watch TV or chat on the phone or sleep????

  • Looks like a great way to burn up a shop vac.

  • How is that? Fresh "cool" air from outside cools the motor and the heated air discharges out the back of the cabinet....

  • Good idea, this things are going to make me deaf.

  • on switch?

  • I talk about that in part 2. A junction box was being added to the back with a standard wall switch and wall outlets wired to operate the shop vac and other tools (sander, planer, saw) at the same time.
