Check my video and see wich makes more sense to you... even them Sum41 play it in drop D.... no point in this guy reinventing the friggin wheel...

yeah buy a distortion pedal.

when playing the riffs, turn it on.

when it sounds clean,

turn the pedal off.

it changes from clean to disortion just by activating the pedal with your foot, so you dont have to stop playing and change it on your amp

At 2:09 the actual song has a neckslide (Terminology?) right before the drums kick in. And you should be able to easliy hear the drums over the guitar.
