well Obama you were pretty nasty about bush everytime you turned around.I'm amazed that this man won..If he would quit doing speeches instead of giving a plan it would be different,He gave few specific responses..He has a staff full of failures..They've failed the Anerican people aND THEY STILL ARE IN OFFICE?
No they didn't receive the question ahead of time. Obama was angry that he did poorly, so he along with this campaign accused Pastor Warren of conspiring against him.
McCain might have. He was not in a "Cone of silence" as was supposed to be. He had access, not necessarily had the questions, but had access to the questions, as he was on his way TO the debate(cell phone), and waited in a room where I believe he still had a cell phone on him... I don't remember.
oh maggie, right and wrong is just as simple as that. Good and evil are two complete opposite. Something cant be evil and good at the same time. Sure, there are times that one life must be chosen instead of another, but at any other circumstance, killing an unborn child is inexcusable. It is scientifically shown that an "embryo" is a human at the point of conception, and therefore deserves the same rights as a full grown adult
serve a cause greater then yourself interest hahahahahahahahahahahah this coming from a politician....Assholes all they care about is their own interest. Lets send kids to die for next God knows how meny years, and Ill stay i DC making millions.
John McCain is a man of faith and has sacrificed and accomplished more on behalf of this country then you can ever hope to. I can also tell by your "eloquence" in this forum that your that you bring nothing to this debate.
They both had the questions (or general ideas of the questions) ahead of time. You can tell by a couple comments obama made that he also knew the questions.
I think Rick Warren said on NPR prior to the forum that he is not endorsing any candidate this year because he hosted the forum.
I think Obama's answers were fantastic, and I hope it changed some opinions on some die-hard right wingers who may have been in attendance only because it was hosted by Saddleback.
The abortion issue... How can a Christian side with Obama on this? Above his pay grade? He supported the killing of a baby if it survived an abortion attempt. Maggie, you said his answers were fantastic? Boy, it doesn't take much to impress you.
If I recall correctly, the problem with the ban on partial birth abortion was the mystifying exclusion that provided no clause to allow for abortion if the mother's life was at risk. I believe that, at the time, most of the medical community sided against it for that reason.
Right and wrong is not always as simple as evangelicals would like it to be.
I can't believe you stated that: Right and wrong is not always as simple as evangelicals would like it to be."
Man, no wonder the church is seemingly out of touch with the gospel and just truth overall. Sure, if life is at risk then one would have to make a choice. But to kill the helpless baby out of the womb when there is no threat to the mother's life. WHAAAT! The thought comes to mind - "Liberal Christian." I can't believe it.
To me, a liberal Christian is one willing to admit that they don't know everything and willing to consider both sides of an issue. That's a good thing. Right and wrong is NOT always simple, and thinking it is leads to radical fundamentalism. A liberal, in general, should be someone who is willing to learn from other people and keep an open mind. If we could all do that, then we would eliminate a lot of the social problems we have now.
Just wanted you all to think about the fact that by the time a partial birth abortion is needed - that is, it is the only option left for termination, the baby could have a chance of living on its own if delivered. if the mother's life is in danger, just deliver the baby!! What's wrong with that?
It's sad to know that there are people that think liberal christianity is good. To be open minded, do you mean that there is no radical fundamentalism? What do you mean by that? Did you mean to say that you are comparing a TRUE christian to a radical islamist? Not a good way to compare the two. I am a radical and a radical for Jesus. I guess you are not. So, will you be for laws that send the preachers to jail if that be the case? Some have gone to jail for preaching scripture. Is that good?
I mean exactly what I said. Believing you know the moral answer all the time in every situation leads to the same extremism that fosters hate groups and terrorism because there can be no reason, dialogue or learning. I think a true liberal would be willing to embrace empathy and would reserve jugement for God. Sometimes radical evangelical rhetoric sounds way too much like terrorist rhetoric--dogmatic, hateful and beyond reason.
Those who don't understand the word of God are spiritually dead. Those who love this world don't love God more than it. Those who love the Lord would see the need to be radical about what He is and would want to be like Him. Christianity is not hateful. But I'll tell you this much, sin hates the truth and tries to avoid it and labels it as hate. I hope you change your views before it's too late. God bless.
no because things aren't that black and white. you cant just say yes abortion/no abortion peace/war good/evil its more complicated than that and there are more factors that come into play so if anyone gives an answer that is that black and white i would not trust their judgment because they obviously havent thought things through all that much
yes you can, and obama makes sure he says nothing. no abortion, war if neccesary, good, no bs in th emiddle obama just wants to get into office so he can start screwing the country.
the country has already been screwed we need some one to fix it not this fake ass war veteran McCain who LIED about his adopted baby LIED about his POW service crashed 5 planes in total Doesnt know how many houses he owns his wife was addicted to pain killers he cheated on his last wife doesnt know shit about the economy came 894 out of 899 in his class at USNA and i can go on forever
Since when is nuance a bad thing? That's what's wrong with you people, you're a bunch of knee-jerk idiot hillbillies who can't think things through for a second. Obama has proven himself a thoughtful person and I for one am finally convinced he should be our next president. He'd be a breath of fresh air after a moron like Bush.
oh yeah proven himself my ass...in the hole two years hes been in office. obama has proven to be nothing, he is the only person i know that can talk for a day and not say a single thing.
He did not say nothing. His thoughtfulness before speaking is because there are no black and white answers on the most divisive issues in this county- particularly when it comes to the role of the administration. The president should be someone who can consider all sides of an issue before making executive decisions rather than acting in his own direct interest. He may be picking his language carefully for the sake of his campaign, but after the last 8 years, I'm okay with that.
bs why would he mention supreme court justices before that question was asked? he tried to cover it up saying it was because of the abortion issue. rick warren even says hey we are getting a lil ahead of ourselves here.
watch (Part 7/10) 2008 Presidential Forum at Saddleback Church in the related videos to the right. at 8:35 seconds into the vid you see john McCain ask if they are gonna get back to the surpreme court justice question but one problem on his part. they never once asked about surpreme court justices yet. only to obama. proves right there he knew the questions prior to coming out there.
Haha. Just like a liberal...don't want people seeing the context of the situation. When you remove something from its context, it's sure easy to spin ain't it?
Watch the whole damn video. And the comment McCain makes at 8:35 makes perfect sense.
McCain is a lying sack of shit. he knew the questions and had a 100% McCain backed crowd. it was all a set up for him to look good. he had to resort to telling his torture stories to play the sympathy card. ok so u got tortured. shouldn't of got shot down in the first place. it still don't mean you should be running this country! he is just a bush clone trying to start world war 3. 90% of his answers were military related. then a question about adoption when he ahs adopted kids! lmfao! rip off!!
mccain a cheater. he knew the questions before hand.Everyone saying theres no proof he knew the questions before hand To prove that McCain knew the questions before hand watch the part when he answers about the abortion issue. He makes a reference to the supreme court justice question that comes later in the forum. Theres your proof he already knew they were going to ask that question later on. what a cheater and in a church and what a liar that pastor is for saying he was in a cone of silence!
Obama knew them too. He made a couple of comments during his time that showed he knew them. And do you honestly think that Obama would have agreed to do this and go first if he wasn't 100% sure that McCain wouldn't hear his answers? I'm sure he had a couple of his own staff in there with McCain to make sure he couldn't hear his answers.
The truth is they both knew the questions ahead of time. Maybe not the exact wording, but the general topics.
