I think Rick Warren said on NPR prior to the forum that he is not endorsing any candidate this year because he hosted the forum.

I think Obama's answers were fantastic, and I hope it changed some opinions on some die-hard right wingers who may have been in attendance only because it was hosted by Saddleback.

If I recall correctly, the problem with the ban on partial birth abortion was the mystifying exclusion that provided no clause to allow for abortion if the mother's life was at risk. I believe that, at the time, most of the medical community sided against it for that reason.

To me, a liberal Christian is one willing to admit that they don't know everything and willing to consider both sides of an issue. That's a good thing. Right and wrong is NOT always simple, and thinking it is leads to radical fundamentalism. A liberal, in general, should be someone who is willing to learn from other people and keep an open mind. If we could all do that, then we would eliminate a lot of the social problems we have now.

Believing you know the moral answer all the time in every situation leads to the same extremism that fosters hate groups and terrorism because there can be no reason, dialogue or learning. I think a true liberal would be willing to embrace empathy and would reserve jugement for God. Sometimes radical evangelical rhetoric sounds way too much like terrorist rhetoric--dogmatic, hateful and beyond reason.

Those who love the Lord would see the need to be radical about what He is and would want to be like Him. Christianity is not hateful. His thoughtfulness before speaking is because there are no black and white answers on the most divisive issues in this county- particularly when it comes to the role of the administration. The president should be someone who can consider all sides of an issue before making executive decisions rather than acting in his own direct interest. He may be picking his language carefully for the sake of his campaign, but after the last 8 years, I'm okay with that.

Obama knew them too. He made a couple of comments during his time that showed he knew them. And do you honestly think that Obama would have agreed to do this and go first if he wasn't 100% sure that McCain wouldn't hear his answers? I'm sure he had a couple of his own staff in there with McCain to make sure he couldn't hear his answers.

The truth is they both knew the questions ahead of time. Maybe not the exact wording, but the general topics.
