I have the exact same temporal one that she shows, and it's okay but it's not as nice as I thought it would be. Also, they have pacifier thermometers, but the downfall is that they have to stay in for 90 seconds to get an accurate reading. I haven't used it yet, but I like the idea.
the "lube" really is key... vaseline is wonderful... you sterilize it (or use a cover), dip in the petroleum jelly, then you're good to go.
but man was I glad when my daughter FINALLY (she's tongue-tied, but it doesn't interfere with speech, so we haven't had it clipped) was able to do it orally this year (she just turned 6)
