At least the noise here in Calgary won't make you def or cause permanent damage unlike NYC Subway which is heavily criticized for it's noise levels by the EPA and the world health organisation.
I actually prefer the Metro de Montreal (my hometown's metro) and the Dubai Metro (I lived in Dubai for a while).. but this is actually not bad at all... Montreal's will always be the best metro system in my opinion, but I actually am starting to really like the looks of the Calgary system
@ThreadyCashdrummer01 If you mean the buzzing in the background (on the new trains) it's a signal that the train is slowing down and that the driver is using the breaks.
I think that Calgary politicos and brass who brag about the C-train should be forced to ride it to and from work every day at rush hour - just like thousands of us do every day. I now get on a west-bound train, go several stops west, get off and cross the street to board a more-empty north-east-bound train, the only way to avoid standing in someone's armpit for the entire ride home.
@bikergal100 actually they should be made to say come to Seoul and ride the subway here for a couple weeks. I used to love the c-train in calgary.. but it's an embarrassment compared to what goes on here.
what they need to do is put an esclator in the fucking university of calgary station... Holy fuck All that walking around in the university makes you tired... then you have to climb 2 flights of stairs, walk across a logn ass bridge then down another flight of stairs and down the platform..... DAMn
during normal hours they can be very empty but i think its because from a certain point its free to ride until u cross a certain station, also they have to many coming, like 1 per 2 or 3 minutes smtins and ppl cant always fill em up.
If memory serves me right, The scarborough RT uses the same technology as the vancouver skytrain? if this is true, then yes, its actually very noisy and can be really annoying.

that Calgary C-train is so noisy. You would think with the money of Calgary, their ''subway'' would be underground or at least as modern as Montreal or Vancouver. Calgary transit sucks.
This is between Dalhousie and Brentwood Station. They are constructing a new LRT terminal in Crowfoot just beyond the Dalhousie LRT. The only grafitti I see crosman is inside the bus shelters at the Franklin LRT near where I live and at Whitehorn.
Cool, I grew up in Edm, riding those good ol U-2's I heardthat Edm is supposed to be getting some new type of SD-160 cars, i dunno, im not really connected up with the whole transit scene or anything, but riding those ol gmc fishbowls sure is fun, rattling windows and all, :P
Best way to get around in Calgary is the train :)

We have a new type of train car here in Calgary. No idea what its called though. You should film that one too, include it in the same video.

You should record additional videos. Show what it's like during rush hour downtown, or on a night when there's a hockey game :)

I'd like to see an underground C-Train station. It's good that they're planning to use a tunnel.
sega31098 2 years ago
There planning a west line which will have 1 elevated staion and 1 underground station. Search for calgary west lrt on google.
SPS148669 2 years ago
I know. I can't wait for it.
sega31098 2 years ago
are you talking about the west line or the city hall tunnel?
Zach4Wii 2 years ago
Both. Underground will be needed in the city centre soon. They can't keep putting it at-grade or it will just waste too much space for development.
sega31098 2 years ago
what they really need to do is build a south east line. the amount of ppl in the south east transfering to somerset station is unbeliveable

Ironic because Calgary's C-Train actually carry the most passengers per day in all of Canada.

well the C-train in calgary is the Most successful LRT in North America I believe

Second most. Monterrey is. Then again, the LRT in Monterrey is more like a subway than one of these.

italo36 3 years ago
The C-Train was built when Calgary had a population around 550,000 - which is very small for light rail.
itsalleternal 3 years ago
now the population has doubled. one would think that the transportation would be more modern and updated.
italo36 3 years ago 3
italo36: putting it underground, thats a waste of money when right of ways were already present
chrisisAAAAAAAA 3 years ago
@chrisisAAAAAAAA
They need it soon because the city centre will need more space for development, so they can't keep putting it on an at-grade right of way.
