why does everyone keep saying anything about the SRT8 having a supercharger, and that it couldn't beet a little 4.0, when the 4.0 has a supercharger. Can't people read the tittle? Supercharged BMW. Take the supercharger off the BMW and see what happens.
1 it's 4.4, 2 if you want to take the Charger off, you'd have to race the model with similar power numbers, i.e the R/T charger. Then get the E39 M5 that has similar power to the SRT8. That answer your question?

listen in this case horsepower has a factor but the way the bmw was set up origanally ( from the factory) with high torque. The torque is the biggest factor and how the transmission is set up. And keep in mind a supercharger works on the premise of decompression, while a bmw motor is set up under high compression pretenses. Still nice car. Both of them. The BMW is just set up better than the charger. Plain and simple.

Yeah it does, especially if it's N/A. There's a big difference between a 2L V8 and a 6L V8. They can make the same power N/A sure, but if you want to make that much power on a small engine, you need some serious engineering to be able to get the RPM's up past like 12k. Where as a big block has lots of torque and an equal amount of power.

e39 540i V8 286 Hp 440Nm, with the charger in 0,6-8 bar pressure, grown (in my car) 460-468Hp and 571Nm...between the stock 6.1, the charged can 5.4 0-100....and it's enough to bite the charger....:-D

Sorry pal... It actually is. The guy driving the SRT8 Charger on the phone works at a local Chrysler dealership and has a SRT8 Challenger now. His boss now drives this SRT8 Charger in the video. yeah.. that car was surprisingly fast! We have car meets every other weekend and all kinds of rice rockets, and they all got smoked by his 540i! mustangs, C5 corvette, chargers dont have nothing on the 540i. The 540i isnt much slower than the M5.
agree with you, I don't why people are willing a premium for the srt8's they are not that fast in terms of weight/hp ratio not very refined. I do not like fords, but I am willing to pay the price for the corba or the shelby because its more refined in terms of putting the hp on the road.

+1 Challenger is beautiful, but Charger is bad joke...
BTW can any1 explain to me PLZ why they made Challenger a coupe when in the past it was the Charger who did compete with Mustang.

The Charger was never meant to compete with the Mustang, Mustangs, Cuda's, Challengers, Camaros are "Pony" cars and its not becuase the Mustang was named after a horse. Chargers are muscle cars they compete with Chevelles, Torinos, Road Runners, 442, GTX, Chargers are bigger car. And the new Charger is a bad Joke? The Challenger is the same care, so it must be a bad joke also.

Makes a lot of difference having the weight of an extra person in the car. Thats why I'd much rather ride alone or have the skinniest girl possible in the passenger seat. Ha!

Aren't the new ones almost the same ? i saw a pic of one and it kinda had the cut off of the headlight like with the new mags. I didn't see the rest of the body tho.

Sorry pal... It actually is. The guy driving the SRT8 Charger on the phone works at a local Chrysler dealership and has a SRT8 Challenger now. His boss now drives this SRT8 Charger in the video. If you'd like to talk to either of them I'd be glad to forward you to them so that you can get over your disbelief. Take care. The BMW is acutally much faster now. There is a more recent video of me racing a SRT8 300c that is faster than this one. These are local people that I talk to.

someone clear this up for me but arent the charger and the 540i in two different classes therefore u cant exactly expect a charger (as heavy as a muscle that it is) to win against a 540i (sports, if im not mistaken). Either way, its supposed to be muscle v muscle for instance charger v mustang not vs a flippin BMW which everyone knows for sure is gonna win

Well..., the BMW M5 is actually in the same class as, the Dodge Charger SRT8(as far as performance)because, they're both sports sedans! German performance automobiles are basically German musclecars. The same goes for Japaneese performance automobiles. P.S. I'm prettysure, you already know that! ;-)

wow a stock 540i 6 speed can get a little under 14 sec maybe 13.9 or something it all depends on the driver espetialy with bmw stick shifts

yeah.. that car was surprisingly fast! We have car meets every other weekend and all kinds of rice rockets, and they all got smoked by his 540i! mustangs, C5 corvette, chargers dont have nothing on the 540i. The 540i isnt much slower than the M5.

agree with you, I don't why people are willing a premium for the srt8's they are not that fast in terms of weight/hp ratio not very refined. I do not like fords, but I am willing to pay the price for the corba or the shelby because its more refined in terms of putting the hp on the road.
