Sorry, but when you lose a Grand Final, there is no revenge. A pissy one-point after-the-siren victory in a Home and Away round is rather meaningless compared to a Grand Final.
That opportunity is gone and even winning the next 30 premierships will not ever atone for that lost opportunity.
After Hawthorn's losses this year, some idiot wrote that he was going to throw his membership away. Yeah....real loyal.
I agree that Geelong's bandwagon pisses me off (I've been a supporter for 20 years), but Hawthorn supporters should really not point the finger. A 40% increase over two years really shows that Hawks have jumped on for the good times, no different to Geelong.
what that idiot cam mooney said is symbolic of the arrogant cats, by expecting to win the game you are showing disrespect to the opposition. Makes what happened in the grand final so much sweeter and suck shit to mooney and the other arrogant wankers in the side.
Name a successful team that says: 'We expect to go out and lose today.'
Every team should go out there with the expectation to win, on the proviso that they do their best as a team.
The players got lazy, but they would not have taken Hawthorn as lightly as you suggest, because the round 17 match was too close to ever create complacency.
Mooney would also read your comments and laugh, because he has three medals to show for it. I will laugh too. :D
i would be laughing twice as hard back because he is without a doubt the worst player ever to have 3 premiership medals. In any other side he wouldnt get a game but he looks good at the cats because of the way they play.
ok to put james morrisey and peter curran in with mooney shows you have no idea. If you dont follow the hawks you wouldnt understand how good these guys were. Anderson and wittman may have been average but they would have still been good enough to be in any side in the comp at the time. Mooney is crap, dont care how good you say his 07 or 08 were. Anyone could have a good year in a side like that.
since when was mooney anything more than an average player before 07. Played a role?? the only role he played was at the tribunal. You say some hawks players were made to look better in a great side, you have already named a couple of players which were good enough who else can you think of?? the list is very short. Madigan and Mcguiness are the only 2 lucky ones. The reason why we were so good is because we had outrageous depth, far greater than the cats have atm.
Mooney had a good 2005, but he wasn't a key forward so naturally, most would not have known about him.
Mooney would have been picked up anywhere else. You put him down, but he's had to work hard and still has three premiership medals.
Perhaps his first was not earned as much as his last two, but he's had to fight critics his whole career and unlike Hawthorn who had a strong zone (and a big chequebook to buy players), Mooney has had to develop with the rest of the team.
Mooney got the first goal of the match in 2007...junk time? He got the first goal of the third quarter as well to put the game beyond doubt.
And if you are suggestion he did fuck all in 2009...2 goals in a match where the winning team scored 12 is siginificant, when the leading individual scorer kicked 3. This was a match that was decided by 6 points at the final siren.
Mooney was a good player before going forward, but was not recognised by many boneheads who only remember his tribunal trips.
Geelong missed shots and hawthorn had to rush because they were under pressure what little bitches hawthorn are aye Next Year Geelong Hawthorn will not make it next Year No way
You are wrong. The Cats missed shots because they were under so much pressure. The Hawks used great stradegy by rushing bhinds. it got them the flag!!! Geelong wont be good enough next year. They couldnt beat the upcoming Hawks in 2008 and in 2009 the hawks wont be upcoming anymore, they will be there!!!
It is that sort of play that prompts the AFL to make stupid rule changes that stuff things up for all the other teams. I would expect that sort of thing from the Swans but not the Hawks.
I guess you think we won the GF because of rushed behinds? It has nothing to do with our complete dominence of the 3rd quarter? You sound like a 7yr old in the schoolyard making excuses for your team losing. Pathetic really.
Nope. I implicated that the AFL makes knee jerk reactions to that sort of play and that Sydney was the last to do it. The Hawks deserved to win, they scored more points than the Cats within the rules (although not always pretty.) I do think Geelong won around the ground (except that fecked up forward line) but the Hawks held their nerves.
too true, jaidee the little butt pirate knows fuck-all about the game. hawthorn will always be a scum team, its funny, same stripes as collingwood and same mentality! fucking morons!
hold on there, i agree rushing behinds isnt pretty to watch, but it was within the rules. Anyway this is distracting us away from the main point (no punt intended). Please put on your DVD and watch the 3rdQ of the GF again. You will see an outplayed Geelong not keeping up with the fast running Hawks. Then the last quarter, the pathetic catchup attempt. Geelong were never in the hunt . You sound like another bad losing geelong supporter with no respect for the game.
Oh and comparing the Hawks to the Pies? How can you compare a club who has won 10 flags in 50 years to a club that has only won one? I think its you who has fuk all knowledge about the game.

u will be praying that you dont play the hawks again this yr after what happened on the weekend. Wont let that happen again.

Yeah, whenever the cats play the hawks it is always a close game. Hope I see a lot more of those types of games in the future.

Hawthorn 2007: 31,065 members.

2009: 52,929 members.

James Morissey and Chris Wittman were both hacks, along with Peter Curran.
Dean Anderson had a couple of medals...and he was crappo.
Shane Ellen has two, but he only played about three good games in his career.
You may not like Mooney, but his 2007 was very good, and his 2008 was still strong.
I think your views are unfounded and are merely an opinion...and you know what they say about opinions...

How though?
You say that Mooney is crap...he may have risen to prominence when Geelong was strong, but he played a role in a team for years unheralded.
Some Hawthorn premiership players were made to look far better by playing in a strong team.
'If you dont follow the hawks you wouldnt understand how good these guys were.'
Once again, that's purely opinion.
Perhaps you don't understand Mooney's value because you don't follow Geelong. He is a respected figure AT the club.
But you can't see that

@uraniumdeath
Mooney's performance in 07 was 5 goals in junk time - doesn't count.
Had a decent first quarter in 08 once he got off Croad - then choked in front of goal.
Got no touches in 99 for North.
Did SFA in 09.
QED Mooney is a premiership scab.
