The players got lazy, but they would not have taken Hawthorn as lightly as you suggest, because the round 17 match was too close to ever create complacency.

Dean Anderson had a couple of medals...and he was crappo.

Shane Ellen has two, but he only played about three good games in his career.

Some Hawthorn premiership players were made to look far better by playing in a strong team.

since when was mooney anything more than an average player before 07. Played a role?? the only role he played was at the tribunal. You say some hawks players were made to look better in a great side, you have already named a couple of players which were good enough who else can you think of?? the list is very short. Madigan and Mcguiness are the only 2 lucky ones. The reason why we were so good is because we had outrageous depth, far greater than the cats have atm.

Mooney had a good 2005, but he wasn't a key forward so naturally, most would not have known about him.

Mooney would have been picked up anywhere else. You put him down, but he's had to work hard and still has three premiership medals.

Perhaps his first was not earned as much as his last two, but he's had to fight critics his whole career and unlike Hawthorn who had a strong zone (and a big chequebook to buy players), Mooney has had to develop with the rest of the team.

Had a decent first quarter in 08 once he got off Croad - then choked in front of goal.

Got no touches in 99 for North.

Did SFA in 09.

Mooney got the first goal of the match in 2007...junk time? He got the first goal of the third quarter as well to put the game beyond doubt.

And if you are suggestion he did fuck all in 2009...2 goals in a match where the winning team scored 12 is siginificant, when the leading individual scorer kicked 3. This was a match that was decided by 6 points at the final siren.

Mooney was a good player before going forward, but was not recognised by many boneheads who only remember his tribunal trips.

Nope. I implicated that the AFL makes knee jerk reactions to that sort of play and that Sydney was the last to do it. The Hawks deserved to win, they scored more points than the Cats within the rules (although not always pretty.) I do think Geelong won around the ground (except that fecked up forward line) but the Hawks held their nerves.
