Context is everything, and Nixon was acting to protect the office of the Presidency and himself from his own abuses of power, not a family, not an individual, nor even, despite what he says, the American people, even he really believed that.
Nixon was one of the best foreign policy presidents since Harry Truman and he threw his entire legacy down the toilet.

I don´t feel a bit sorry. When a president acts as he is above the law, the law should bring him to justice. He was damn lucky not to go to prison.
