Exactly. The inanimate magazines are no more dangerous than my hammer, ax, chain saw, pitchfork, knife, etc. All can be used as effective weapons in the hands of someone defending themself or a dangerous person intent on causing harm. This basic concept is ignored by most politicians.

Im a proud supporter of firearms. But if we make it harder to obtain guns or ban them entirely, people are still going to find a way to kill someone that they want dead.
As for high capacity magazines, there really is no need. Be realistic, do you need to fire 30 rounds without reloading and are you going to carry your pistol with a 30 round magazine hanging out of it?
Even if you make only low cap mags only for sale in the public, 99% of criminals won't care to use them. Fact is until the end of time we will continue to be making high cap mags for military and law enforcement. If they exist, there's access to them. Prohibiting them again, will only guarantee LAW ABIDING citizens will not possess or use them.

The United States has 3x's the murder rate & 77% gun rate in those. Crimes with guns have a much lower survival rate for victims. I'm not for eliminating guns,I just want reasonable rules.

then why did the number of murders peak in 1991 and the per capita murder rate peak in 1980? using your logic the per capita murder rate should have decreased as the population aged and should have been even higher the further you go back.

The problem isn't gun laws. The issue isn't hi-cap magazines. If any reasonable person did just a tad bit of research, the root of the problem is a slap on the hand for violent felons, including the guarantee of early parole. Nearly 100% of violent gun crimes in my area are at the hands of career criminals. People go off into mindless tangents on "gun issues" and ignore the root cause. @SamuelSavage777 For carry the 19 is good. Take her to a gun shop and see if she can grip the pistol comfortably. The Glocks are fighting pistols, I would trust my life with it. Unless you're in an area that still bans "large capacity" magazine (like NY, Cali, etc), the 17 (full size) fits 2 more rounds. The 19's magazine holds 15, but can fit easier in a conceal carry. Make sure she gets training with it, classes, dry fire, etc, & permit if required by state/local laws.be safe!

I have put over 5,000 rounds through my glock 19 and it has held up just fine. I still prefer the short reset trigger pull of say my p226 but the glock 19 is an excellent firearm.
@iamjust2stone I sold 2 Colt 1911's for a Glock 19 and Glock 34 and cashed in half the money with no regrets. Both of them say: "Smyrna, Georgia" on the slide. I use Corbon DPX 9mm+ loads with 91% KDP and they hold 16/18-34 rounds. Look at the gun your local cops use, if they are like the majority in the USA, it is a Glock. In fact, Glocks are used by more police and military forces worldwide than any other handgun, so tell them!
I have the 1911 and moving toward a .357 next, although it will probably be a Ruger. Do have a Smith in .38, so hope I have fulfilled your wish of me adding American made guns to my collection.

@roossi In a lot of places, like the place I live in Jacksonville, FL there are quite a bit of dangerous areas to find yourself around town (bad neighborhoods) and in a place like Jacksonville the homicide rate is starggering so you really can't ever be prepared enough to act if some of the criminal activity is directed at you.

Crime is low here compared to places where people cannot carry Guns. @roossi What good is an unloaded gun when the criminals gun is loaded? The vast majority of people are not armed. For example, Tennessee has over 6,000,000 people and less than 5% have carry permits. Of those, 2/3s leave thier guns at home. I don't just protect myself, I also protect others. At the same time, any one person can be caught alone. To get a carry permit, one must have a clean record and be of sound mind. There are places no one can carry, like Post Office, Bars ect..

Also you mentioned the sights. I have several glock 19s -- one 3 dot night sights, others are standard glock. I found through practice drawing to get on target, that "capturing the ball" with the box seems faster than lining up 3 dots... the sights are made by trijicon, I think meprolight may have little bigger, but I like the white outline of the trijicon sights.

Statistically speaking, only 1.7% of felons surveyed obtained their firearms via flea markets or gun shows. OTOH, 78.8% obtained their firearms from either a family friend or illegal source. closing the gun show loophole will not, in all likely hood, reduce crime.

The problem isn't gun laws. The issue isn't hi-cap magazines. If any reasonable person did just a tad bit of research, the root of the problem is a slap on the hand for violent felons, including the guarantee of early parole. Nearly 100% of violent gun crimes in my area are at the hands of career criminals. People go off into mindless tangents on "gun issues" and ignore the root cause. Criminals aren't given enough deterrents to stop the cycle.

@yanni318 It's not irrational, google "shooters stopped when reloading" ,You will read dozens of cases where it happened like in the Loughner case ,he was tackled when reloading, had he only access to a 10rd clip & not the 33rd clip he was using ,he may have been stopped even sooner = less dead people.The Assault weapons ban that limited magazine size needs to be resigned in to law If you are trained on this weapon ,10rds clip is suffice to stop a burglar or home invader ,easily!

I don't think I'll be shooting at 200 yds with a pistol, I might as well use a rifle. Is there a reason or purpose why you are shooting at 200 yards with a handgun?....or are you trying to show reliability/accuracy of the pistol?..... or maybe just showing off?....by letting everybody see that you can hit the target after 3-4 shoots?

@SamuelSavage777 For carry the 19 is good. Take her to a gun shop and see if she can grip the pistol comfortably. The Glocks are fighting pistols, I would trust my life with it. Unless you're in an area that still bans "large capacity" magazine (like NY, Cali, etc), the 17 (full size) fits 2 more rounds. The 19's magazine holds 15, but can fit easier in a conceal carry. Make sure she gets training with it, classes, dry fire, etc, & permit if required by state/local laws.be safe!

I have put over 5,000 rounds through my glock 19 and it has held up just fine. I still prefer the short reset trigger pull of say my p226 but the glock 19 is an excellent firearm.

@iamjust2stone I sold 2 Colt 1911's for a Glock 19 and Glock 34 and cashed in half the money with no regrets. Both of them say: "Smyrna, Georgia" on the slide. I use Corbon DPX 9mm+ loads with 91% KDP and they hold 16/18-34 rounds. Look at the gun your local cops use, if they are like the majority in the USA, it is a Glock. In fact, Glocks are used by more police and military forces worldwide than any other handgun, so tell them!

@roossi In a lot of places, like the place I live in Jacksonville, FL there are quite a bit of dangerous areas to find yourself around town (bad neighborhoods) and in a place like Jacksonville the homicide rate is starggering so you really can't ever be prepared enough to act if some of the criminal activity is directed at you.

@roossi No, it's the same in Tennessee. Ever wonder WHY your crime rate is low? People tend to be a bit nicer in an armed society and I have a Carry Permit myself. Crime is low here compared to places where people cannot carry Guns. A criminal often reconsidders his occupation when he realizes the one who's life they want to threaten might turn that threat around.

@roossi What good is an unloaded gun when the criminals gun is loaded? The vast majority of people are not armed. For example, Tennessee has over 6,000,000 people and less than 5% have carry permits. Of those, 2/3s leave thier guns at home. I don't just protect myself, I also protect others. At the same time, any one person can be caught alone. To get a carry permit, one must have a clean record and be of sound mind. There are places no one can carry, like Post Office, Bars ect..

btw the world murder rate is 6, which is still higher than that of the US.

Also you mentioned the sights. I have several glock 19s -- one 3 dot night sights, others are standard glock. I found through practice drawing to get on target, that "capturing the ball" with the box seems faster than lining up 3 dots... the sights are made by trijicon, I think meprolight may have little bigger, but I like the white outline of the trijicon sights.
