I have the original cassette sound track, after seeing the movie 30+ years ago in Taipei, I have been listening to that tape for many many years. It has carried me through some of the really tough times of my youth... so good to see it again!!!
They showed this at my church in the early seventies. Sadly, Israeli propogandists still inculcate with ease close and abiding relationships with guileless fundy congregations and with conservatives as a whole.
This reprehensible (and exceptionally poorly written song) was made in support of grotesque violations of international law, and of the basic concepts of humanity as exposited in both the Bible and the Torah.
I am glad that this man's career is now limited to the fundamentalist evangelical extremist market.
@SultanChase Totally agree with the criticism--formal and theological and political--especially appalled by the apparent nostalgia for feudalism and attendant superstition ("The Lord" "stepped it off an marked it there, to be his earthly thoroughfare") and the obsession with property rights... of otherworldly figures!
@SultanChase But I'd (been almost forced to) listen to this song when I was a little boy, when my aunt played the record over and over again. As reprehensible as it is, it sparks this odd nostalgic feeling for my distant childhood. And I say, it's fine by me--mind you, only because it's now politically irrelevant.
@SultanChase The offenses of the State of Israel against the Palestinian People are sadly alive and well, and must be corrected still... but I don't think loopy Christian fundamentalists hold much sway in the politics of illegally occupying Palestinian territories these days. So, this is an odd suggestion: I'm encouraging your beliefs, and thank god that someone's saying them out loud... but kindly asking you to kindly lay off this, at worst, very, very corny, otherwise harmless song
@falstaffswims Sultan: What would the holy land be like if the Moslems were to take control of it? I can tell you what it would be like; death an destruction would soon follow! FND Colorado, U.S.A.
@SultanChase I agree. Not to mentionn the rumor that he and Barrows were "an item". Upon hearing that Cliff Richard had become a fundy back in 1966, singer Helen Shapiro certified him "a nutter".
Pro Israel propoganda.

Good grief, only schmaltzy fundamentalists could make such a schlockumentary from 1970.

@falstaffswims And to think they coned the likes of Cliff Richard into such a cultural/political ponzi scheme is sad on a level unto itself.

@SultanChase Not to mention the rumor that Cliff Richard and Cliff Barrows were lovers.
