  • 3 people still haven't got their sunday clothes on...

  • Michael is AWESOME as the ORIGINAL PHANTOM and CORNELIUS "achmed113". I've seen him in both! I love him so much though in Hello Dolly like you so I definetly think Mike rocks as much in this movie as he did as the Phantom.

  • Why did Hollywood ever think it was a good idea to stop making movies like this? I will never understand where they get some of their ideas. Some of the greatest Musical/Movie extravaganzas were made between 1960 to 1980 and ironically before the recent release of Hairspray the last production of this magnitude of talent also featured the late phenominal Gene Kelly and Broadway is finally giving it the recognition it deserves and that is Xanadu. We need these kind of movies back on screen NOW

  • this is nicer than I tought...:P

  • I'm surprised Fox hasn't taken this video too. They've claimed copyright on a lot of the other songs from this musical! >:[

  • You can see alot of Gene Kelly (the director) influence in the athletic style of dance with some of his signature moves

  • Holy Kabooses......Barnaby says that a lot in this scene! She says it like5 times or more

  • breaking out into a musical is actually freeing I do it all the time and I am a grown man!!

  • Oh I wish I could randomly break out into a musical... but if I do that people at school look at me like I escaped from a mental hospital... *sigh* well I can dream right?

  • hahahahahaha 28 and 3/4 his age Lol

  • To New York with only $3?

If only we could do ANYTHING these days for as little as $3. Won't be long until the vending machines take that or more.

  • My sister LOVES this song!!! lol

  • Sound of Music blows this movie away

  • WHY!! Michael is PERFECT! He is better in this role than in the phantom...No offense to you phantom fans, He rocks as cornileus

  • @Chrispat8 Everyone has their own taste of music. Remember the thought that has been put into this musical.

  • i love wall-e!!!

  • I saw this play at a local high school. It was so good! Like, Broadway, good! The girl who played Dolly was simply amazing! She is the best 17-year-old actress/singer I have ever seen! Great job, JFK high school!

  • Thank you MandZe so much. I love this song and I love Michael Crawford! Hes so adorable in this...."The lights of Broadway" (ironic since he would go on to become the Phantom), "Barnums Museum"( he would later play "Barnum" in London and win an Olivier ward for it). Talk about seeing into the future!

  • we're doing this for the school play, and this is my favorite song.

  • i only wonder is picture took is grammatically correct besides that love this amazing song always perks up my mood:)

  • i is back then, its kinda like, people saying Grunteld. you can be disgruntled you can also be gruntled but its no longer used.

its one of those funny time changes language things... oh how sad i am when the world of dancing on bedposts was common

  • I'm sure it's grammatically correct in the "hood".

  • gotta love the mouse form dumbo being himself. loving it.

  • What do you mean?

  • I remember watching this movie for the first time. I fell absolutely head over heels for this song. Everyone in it does such a brilliant job!

  • Its very romantic. Its that lady Dolly?

  • WHY is this song is so happy and cheery. I could listen to it forever!

  • The feel good song of the year for me.

;~; It makes me very happy. I want to put on my Sunday best. :D

  • wall-e! best movie I've seen. so cute in every way. eve and wall-e:-D <3

  • WALL-E :) I lovin it xD

  • OMG I love this song and the fact that it is in Wall-E (which I own) is fantastic! Amazing song!

  • i totally agree nuclearpavlova, this musical totally made walle work for me!

  • I just want to thank Disney and Pixar for putting this song in Wall-E. I loved it and because of this film, it made me buy Hello Dolly and watch it.. and I love it! I never would have watched it otherwise which would have been a huge shame.

  • Yes! I love it in Wall-E. Just melts your heart! <3

  • I know me too! I loved it in Wall-E

  • though I've never seen all of Hello Dolly!, i am a 'young person' and I love musicals of all kinds, as do the vast majority of my friends. I love Disney... it has in no way made me dislike other musicals because they're childish. Though many young people do have differing interests from other generations, I find that young people seem to be more and more interested in music in general. True, there are those out there who find musicals gay... but I wouldn't worry about musicals ceasing to exist.

  • haha, "..we're gonna be in danger, we're gonna be almost arrested and we're gonna spend all our money!"

  • Oh thanks sooo much for bring us the actual video clip. While I saw the dancing scene in Wall.e I thought "whoa, That's awsome!" Love the dances & the song. Any one who have more high detailed please tell me lots of thanks to the poster.

  • Against musicals? Do you know how popular the High School Musical movies are in the preteen demographic? Kids are not against musicals. They just don't understand the good ones, like Hello Dolly or An American in Paris. A new generation with new interests.

Oh, and Across the Universe came out last year. Hollywood seems to still be in touch with musicals, apparently. And that movie was enjoyed by a good portion of today's "young people". Both of you fail at generalizing and stereotyping.

  • I must agree with you. Sadly, most grown-ups just don't realize that a new generation brings new opinions and new interests. This leads to them judging the younger ones for their 'bad taste'. I obviously disagree with this point of view.

We should allow the youth to have their own opinions.

  • oh help. did you just call 'high school musical' a MUSICAL????!!!! i am a 12 yr. old kid. here is a list of what i consider 'musicals'

Hello Dolly (haven't seen it yet, but from this song i can tell)

The Phantom of the Opera (ROCKS!!!!)

    West Side Story (DARN GOOD!!!)

Wicked (haven't seen it, but i have the soundtrack)

probably a lot more, but these are the only ones i can think of right now. but seriously. it was insulting to actual musicals to classify 'high school musical' with them.

  • amen

  • High School Musical is a musical. A musical is any movie that has sing a long type songs in it. High School Musical is then technically a musical.

  • i suppose so, but i was talking more about not by definition, but what it SHOULD be called. which is NOT musical. in my opinion, anyways. i think, more along the lines of

'strange pointless romance with a weak plot and tunes that, unfortunately, sound exactly like the kind of songs all the other kids like, which means that you might want to cover your ears.' if you like it, then i am sorry, i tend to speak my opinions a bit to strongly...so yeah, technically but nothing else.

  • At this time, though, this was the popular music.. so really it's the same. i am a disney cast member, but i can't stand high school musical. like many people, i wish it would just go away along with miley and the jonas brothers... Bring back the classics, in my opinion!!! but, still, high school musical would count as a musical if it has 3 or more songs in it. (i haven't been able to sit through the first 10 minutes so i don't really know)

  • I know I hate miley cyrus and "disney reality" they really need to bring back some classics. Man those high school muscials are so cheesy

  • do i even want to know what 'disney reality' is?

  • I AGREE!!!!!! DIE DIE DIE!!!!!!!!! sorry...i get a bit out of control...Phantom of the Opera has had a negative effect on me...anyways, unfortunately, there are more then three of what is loosely termed 'songs'...i agree with 'bring back the classics' as well. THEY ROCK!!!!!!!!!! (well, most of them)

  • rent is another really awesome too.

  • oh yes i love you, first person i've seen mention that movie other than me,

thats my favorite musical and one of my favorite movies

  • RENT

  • I had no idea this movie was so awesome until it showed it in wall-e.....it just shows that a great movie will always be remembered...

  • Holy cabooses!

  • Gotta start using that one

  • 3 dollers whats 3 doller now dayz

  • dude. that's dolly. lol

  • in your info you spelled Barbra Striesand wrong

  • As did you. xP

    simply teasing.

  • it's great to see a classic movie in WALL-E. love both movies!

  • This is fabbbb

  • this is amazing:]

  • need to learn how to sing this awsome song

  • I like this song it's amazing

  • Now this is what belongs on youtube.

  • Dang, what happened to movie musicals like this?

  • they got turned into high school musical, you didnt get that horrible memo?

  • Yes I did get the memo. Even though I regret getting it.

  • Hollywood stopped making them because they went out of fashion. It seems that most of today's young people have a built-in prejudice against musicals. Is that because it's unrealistic for people to break into song and dance in the middle of a conversation? Well, how realistic are today's action flicks, with their impossible stunts and CGI effects? Or is it because musicals are thought of as "gay"? Well, Gene Kelly was one of the greatest musical movie stars, and I'd say he was pretty butch!

  • I think today's kids are so against musicals because Disney showed up and completely ruined not only musicals, but animation as well. Don't get me wrong, I like Disney, but because of them most people see musicals as childish, garish, and ridiculous. It's kind of sad.

  • wasn't south park a musical?

  • Well, I suppose yes, if cartoons count. I think the original question referred more to "traditional" movie musicals, especially (but not limited to) the ones adapted from Broadway shows.

  • i don't have a prejudice about musicals! heck, in my favorite one, my favorite actor is now, what, 60? i think that most kids don't seem to like this kind of stuff because high school musical. i don't like that. at all. i showed my best friend The Phantom of the Opera at a sleepover and she said 'oh, that was nice, i liked it' and proceeded to show me 'Charlie the Unicorn' on youtube. she does like it, though. dunno why i said this comment, but i did so that will be that.

    goodbye

  • 2:34

    "The stuffed whale. . . "

    "Stuffed whale, WOOOW!"

  • Holly cabooses! I love it when the short guy says that. :-D

  • Greatest musical ever.

  • Love his voice!

  • Wall-e was watching this video and record this song Cool stuff!

  • WHAT A GREAT POSTING!! This is the Real Stuff!! THANKS A LOT!!!

  • You're welcome! Thought it might be worth it ;)

  • My fav. song from this movie. So cute when WALL-E was singing this in that movie...It was almost unbearably cute, lol.

  • Why does Micheal always make that weird grunting sound? (0:36) =P

He does it during "It Only Takes a Moment", too.

  • Gene Kelly did an amazing directing job in this movie! I love Hello Dolly and I love this scene!

    Thanks for sharing :)

  • Brilliant song.

  • aw! i love how at 1:33 Michael saids "talking" in a British accent. no matter how hard he tried to keep his American accent, he STILL goes back!

  • He does a good job generally, though. When I first got interested in Michael Crawford, I watched Barnum and Hello Dolly, and it was two or three months before I came across an interview on television in which I heard him speak with his normal accent!

  • he does, he does. me too! you should see "condorman" haha!

  • AHHHHHHHHHH ITS SO CUTE! ^_^ XD

  • I always love listening to british people immitating American accents. Monty Python and the Meaning of Life has a lot of this (let's see what's next on the agendurr")

  • To be fair, a lot of folks in Yonkers, Noo Yawk probably tawk like that too!
