RED STATE I thing it is valid to point out that certain small communities are delusional and perhaps Kevin is part of one of those small communities are self important, naris NAZI types. Red State was an amazing movie. I'm not sure why it got such a negative reaction. Acknowledging that religious extremists exist is not a condemnation of all religion. They are either narrow minded or recognize themselves in the darker aspects the cult in that movie expound on. Someone really just needs to look at it and, you know, say "would you look at that?!" "Just look at it!" Then they might understand it better and not be so angry. I mean, look at that! Just look at it!

Kevin Smith has done more for Christianity than the Church has over the past few hundred years. There are so many Churches with an abhorrently anti-Christian voice these days. Those Churches with strong dogma that preach hatred and refuse to intellectually interplay with modernity are doing a massive disservice to the philosophy of Christ.

Red State is a step in a new direction for Smith and I give him that. He did a good job for what it is and I can see him growing as a film maker. He should spend less time giving spoken word performances and spend time practicing the craft of making movies. I can see him becoming a much better director if he focuses. The guy is a jerk off though, I met him at his comic bookstore in Westwood, CA back in 2006 (didn't know who he was at the time). The guy was rude, arrogant and a jerk off.

I rented Red State last night. As a Horror movie fan since I was 10 I can honestly say that Red State IS NOT A HORROR MOVIE. Unless the definition of Horror has changed this movie is NOT HORROR. The movie is decent and plays more like Action/Thriller. Anyone who thinks this is a horror movie is has no clue about movies or genres. Red State is watchable and a popcorn movie. It is too blatantly preachy at times. There are other movies that did what Smith was trying to, but they did it better.

actually the whole film was a satire of WBC (Westboro Baptist Church) and they threatened to protest at every screening (Kevin wanted to distribute it himself, like a concert). Kevin then invited them to Sundance to see the film, then review it on stage, but after a couple minutes, they were out, and started protesting, but Kevin informed his followers on Twitter to protest against them (he's funny as hell) and that's what's going on.

actually the whole film was a satire of WBC (Westboro Baptist Church) and they threatened to protest at every screening (Kevin wanted to distribute it himself, like a concert). Kevin then invited them to Sundance to see the film, then review it on stage, but after a couple minutes, they were out, and started protesting, but Kevin informed his followers on Twitter to protest against them (he's funny as hell) and that's what's going on.
