they definitely have the knack for that kinda thing !
I'm probably going to make an attempt at covering Dying Fetus "pissing in the Mainstream", I think it's around 200 bpm too. And trying to push myself to 220 as well
@rbDrum01 awesome, yeah I think it's 208BPM....Kevin Talley never went for huge tempos....which was good, their stuff sounds more brutal than most bands who play 240+ stuff.
agreed ! as much as I enjoy bands like Nile or Origin to some extent, sometime the double bass is too fast to really get that "grinding savagery" feeling. Maybe the sound they use for triggering takes part too, as well as the overall sound of the band .. ?
Origin didn't outstrip 200 in their early times I think, most songs around 180, you could fully appreciate the snare work (gravity blasts etc)
@rbDrum01 Yeah and early Deicide/Hate/Vile/Aborted...even Decapitated and lots of others. I love that 180-200 tempo range. I also love super fast stuff too, depends what mood I'm in I guess.
@rbDrum01 i think that if you want to hear that "grinding savagery" feeling, you dont have to listen to death metal. powerviolence drummers play like that, its not the fastest or more technical music, but its more savage than death metal in my opinion.
