you people don't know what you're talking about, the starbucks coffee is roasted so dark and heavily that every shot pulled for longer that 10 seconds is so bitter that it's undrinkable! I've been fighting for very long with 25-second shots bitter as hell only to discover that it's way too long for those beans. 25 second rule applies to typical espresso roast which is way lighter than the roast of ANY beans from starbucks.
@gronki1 Any advice as to what brand is best for espresso? I found that the Starbucks Colombian was best and their blonde is nowhere near what it should be.
@TheBauermv actually I don't drink any brand coffee. I buy beans at a local store. they import coffee from various countries and then roast it, so you always get freshly roasted coffee. it tastes so much better than packed coffee that lays for many months on a shelf in a supermarket. you need to look for such a store in your area (actually many of them sell though the internet too) and you'll never want drink any mass-produced coffee again.
These are all badly pulled shots. Starbucks doesn't know what a good espresso is. What's worse, even with their "knowledge" employees never readjust the grind, sometimes for days or weeks on end.
i d say as a worker at starbucks.. the machines we use cant make good crema, and its not strong enough to produce latte art .. ive gotta use mocha sauce to thicken it.. its sad though... no matter how good my microfoam is.. the coffee is to thin
all of them were bad shots...it would stop close to the end and then pour for a little...and then then it'd bubble...the slow pour was pretty close to a good shot...but a shot that's poured at the right time and right amount doesn't mean anything if the beans are inferior...just sayin'
Starbucks beverage makers do not deserve the title barista, this title should only be held by those with the correct knowledge and skill to prepare espresso and espresso based drinks. You know that you are a failure if your job title is Starbucks basista. Shame on all of your houses.
I agree, i had a starbucks espresso yesterday, and it tasted like freaking medicine, and you can't blame the employees at all, since the only thing they do is pressing a button, they sell decent coffee, it is a shame that they barley use it to make the drinks that they sell there.
@GarageBoy starbucks doesn't use training videos. it's more on the job stuff and i hate it as much as the next person, but you can't beat the part time benefits.
@ashfactor101 when you work in a drive through and people expect to have their coffee in less than three minutes in an order of 5-6 drinks, 7 cars deep, hand tamping is NOT an option. I agree that it's a better way to make espresso, but starbucks customers want value, not quality.
@StarbucksTool then I blame the starbucks customers for being tapped in the head!
I honestly can't understand why people are willing to drink bad coffee that they need to put flavoured syrups or suger in in order to make it palatable. Any time someone new comes into my work and asks for a take away with sugar I challenge them to taste it without the sugar then if they still want sugar go ahead. 9/10 don't have sugar, cause we care about our coffee and it is naturally sweet enough
@ashfactor101 people want that morning "pick-me-up" without having to wait for it. we've done what McDonald's did to the cheeseburger: we took something amazing, cheaped out the ingredients, mass produced it with a shitload of additives, and called it "product." i blame uneducated, uncultured, unwashed MASSES of people who think they know quality when what they're really getting is "Value"
Noo that was way to slow. Way over 25 seconds. Generally with the Verismo 801 machines that sbux uses... the perfect shot times are between 15-18 seconds
