I listen vinnie play in Conversano, italy last 29 november...i remember that me and my friend still shout "BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS" and then vinnie came back on the stage and said " For those two guys another one song"
For your information, MTV only had about an hour or so a week with this kind of entertainment, if you missed it you had to wait another week for headbangers ball, and it was filled with bad interwievs.
The real metal people was allways neglected and ignored.
Metal got big outside the known the world for the most part.
If you really wanted to get close, you had to go to concerts and often travel quite long to see the good shows!
@Sabbathman1979 wow dude, that sums it all up, you're so right!! All the technical guitarists of today just can't can't catch a mad groove or have any sort of interesting melodies...
Didn't like this album that much (having heard two other types of Vinnie first though), but with the video and the music at the time it was still awesome/fit in with the beer commercial type guitar stuff that was coming out. I wish he would have used "Free" as his video tune that was awesome. He's got this classic rock vibe in a lot of his songs that is interesting. I just like it better when it's a little less obvious.
@nightmarereaperz there's NO MORE MUSIC in MTV right now, nightmarereaperz. Its all REALITY shows. And nightmarereaperz, check out VH1 Classic, they have OLD MUSIC there. By the way I just subscribed to you. REPLY BACK.
@nightmarereaperz to answer your question, nightmarereaperz. MTV did play REAL music back in the day. If you want some classic MTV stuff nightmarereaperz, check out VH1 Classic.
If Joe Satriani could pick this is what he might sound like! Seriously though Vinnie is a lovely player, who plays with real taste and control but can unleash some firey stuff when called for. He has a great sense of melody too, particularly on his albums The Maze and Time Odyssey.
I think the 80's were the happiest years ever 'cause only really professional musicians were famous there. And now we must listen to this crappy lady gaga, katy perry and other fags!
@doomcrusher1 As much as I dislike those musicians you mentioned, I find it a little irritating that you named two of the very few mainstream artists who actually write their own music. If you're going to take a piss out of the mainstream scene, target the jackasses who sit around cashing in while other people do their work for them, not the few who actually atleast have the integrity to compose their own material (no matter how lackluster and boring it may be)
@doomcrusher1 She does collaborate with RedOne, mostly for her 'hits' but the majority of her albums are actually written by her, even if sometimes just in part. In the end, she still has more control over her music than 90% of the other mainstream artists who don't even try to shape their own musical direction.
I just find it funny that you named two of the artists who actually do write their own music, when you could have named a myriad of those who don't. :P
@doomcrusher1 not to mention how much of a pussy everyone is
when's the last time you saw a girl getting raped in a movie? saw a beheading or something with full blood and gore? or even heard the word nigger? fuck
same with videogames and tv shows
ps. the next time I hear "dont feel like picking up my phone, so leave a message at the tone" or "hark hark hark you're so jet lag" or the word "shots" over and over again for five minutes im gonna kill someone
@rlalmuana14 check out his other stuff from the album "the mind's I" for some reason his best stuff is not shown much. you have to dig dipper into his music. this song nothing compared to what he has done.
@rlalmuana14 Please explain your comment because im finding it hard to make any sense of it. Why shouldn't people look up to Vinnie when it comes to guitar playing? I eagerly await your response:-))
@mordig oh they should...hes really good...:-)..I just assumed hes one of the 1st guys we look to.Not brand him a new hero. He deserves better than that....get me??
theres a kid here on youtube who makes covers of songs, in 2010 he made an original piece (guitar instrumental) called «Dessert Hallucinations», its a really amazing and beatiful piece! I think you should check it out! thumbs up so everyone can see it!
@CRexTasy This album came out back in'88-'89, so the comparison to Satriani is somewhat bogus-Joe put out 'Surfing' right around the same time, so i don't think Vinnie was emulating him in any way. As for Yngwie, who wasn't trying to play and sound like him back then
@rondill65 Surfing with the Alien came out in '87. Satch's first release, Dreaming #11, came out in '85. That was followed by his first full-length album Not of This Time in '86. Before that he was in the The Greg Kihn Band. And before all of that he was already well known in the guitar community due to his technical and teaching skills (taught Steve Vai, Kirk Hammet & Alex Skolnick, just to name a few). Nice resume!
Wow seems like yesterday I was replaying April sky on my walkman. It's easy to forget along with satriani vai and malmsteen, there where other great shredders like Moore mcalpine and batio, in those days guys like these had a record deal from shrapnel.
Haven't heard this since the original Headbanger's Ball. Bought the cassette but it got lost in the shuffle. Now to buy the CD which I assume is a fortune.
vinnie is sooo underrated. many people especially who dont play guitar. expect the people to shred the neck so much that his fingers bleed. and many people will think this song isnt that good. when really this is just magnificant and amazing playing. also he plays so fluidly i mean its soooo smooth. thats really hard to do. vinnie is up there right next to george lynch and EVH. and he deserves the fan base of the entire world
''steve vai having sex with the air around him'' - that was good :) . Too bad that V. Moore took a lot of Vai and Satriani influence for everything after ''time odysey''
1991 - Frankston Hotel, Victoria - Vinman played his 'Meltdown' clinic to a packed room of about 30 people!! I was front row. At one point before the show I though I heard a fan running, only to see his fingers humming while warming up on an unplugged guitar!! What a monster player.
vinnie fans...this song climax from beginning, no good. Vinnie style playing is too common among guitar player at tat time. Can comapred with Vai or Satch songs which is a real masterpieces. No heart feeling..
@flymyv you are SO wrong. i think satriani is the greatest player in the world but this song captures the attitude of hard rock perfectly.it makes me want to headbang and SHRED! thats what this song was meant for.
damn im glad dean took gave him his own line of signature guitars. the guy definitely deserves it and the vinman line is simply exquisite! he has the technicality of any other guitar virtuoso with the soul and technique all of his own. classically trained theory doesn't hurt either! he is the perfect musician with the humility and love for his fans that makes him admirable. kind of like how yngwie would be if he got his head out of his ass XD
@Musician4life89 Vinnie only has one signature guitar by dean. He doesn't have his own line of signature guitars and he was classically influenced not trained .
I wish i could afford his vinman 2000, but i managed to put in a fast track , and dean shredhead in the bridge.
Nice to hear this. I didn't expect Vinnie Moore was this good.

damn im glad dean took gave him his own line of signature guitars. the guy definitely deserves it and the vinman line is simply exquisite! he has the technicality of any other guitar virtuoso with the soul and technique all of his own. classically trained theory doesn't hurt either! he is the perfect musician with the humility and love for his fans that makes him admirable. kind of like how yngwie would be if he got his head out of his ass XD

@Musician4life89 Vinnie only has one signature guitar by dean. He doesn't have his own line of signature guitars and he was classically influenced not trained .
I wish i could afford his vinman 2000, but i managed to put in a fast track , and dean shredhead in the bridge.
Vinnie rocks!!!

@aintnaive Im pretty sure vinnie only had signature models with ibanez and Dean.
Musicman and fender were just custom .
