If the culprit really was a witch, that would take a lot of fun out of the game, I can't help thinking.  Kanon's spirit leading Jessica wouldn't really have much to do with that, though. Even without the existence of magic, it's still arguably possible.

Yeah..that what I though, too..but only after replaying it again. The realm in which Battler "Plays" against the witch exists, just the things that happen in the game don't have anything to do with magic. Witches only exists in those realms.

Well remember Hanyuu was 'oyashiro-sama' in bern's and lambda's game. so with her being a god she would be able to revive Rika as much as she could (since she does run out of spiritual energy in the final arc) so ya the use of magic in Bern's and lambda's game is arguable..
