  • i want to destroy my works old PC screen! It hurts my eyes! how can i destroy it? water ot magnets?

  • The only real damage I can see doing this is that a large magnet like a "hockey puck" sized magnet could conceivably bend the shadow mask. Anything that fits in your hand you're ok. I find that fans put out quite a large ac field and it degausses afer you put magnets on the screen.

  • i wish for you permanent screen damage!

srsly, that can damage a crt.

  • That's why I do it with an old monitor that no one uses anymore.

  • @DevilDan83 you can still use it because those monitors had a degaussing option, which can refresh the motitor massively. and i mean massively!

  • there's a video of a kid using a magnet as big as his hand and he presses it against the screen, and makes a big black hole in the pixels

  • Alas just don't do this if you don't know how it works and if you don't know how to do it properly, pronto?

  • You aren't going to damage the monitor as long as you use small magnets.

All CRT's have a built-in degaussing coil around the tube. Just turn it off for a few hours and let it cool down.

Turn it back on and it's good as new !

  • DEpends if it magnetses the shdow mask

  • Now that's what I like to hear, something positive and worth reading, nice.

  • LOL

  • I assume you're joking?

  • you can destory a harddrive

  • you can not, idiot. Its shielded.

  • I had to degauss a few old monitors using a magnet... Magnets near CRT also can be useful!!!

  • that was stupid.. the magnetic field of Neodymium magnets are stronger.. and it can start messing up your harddrive permanently from few feet away

  • Now that you mention it our boss's HDD (his monitor) did break just recently. Could that be it?

  • Actually, my friends and I have done several experiments involving magnets and hard drives. You actually have to get pretty close to the hard drive to mess it up. And we used one of the worlds largest neodymium magnets (6" Diameter, 6" thick, 50+lbs). We will post up a video as soon as we get a camera.

  • you can remove the colors by waving the magnet over the screen off

  • i dont understand why you would do something like that? so stupid.......

  • Its a great way to break and get a new mp3 player :), i've helped a few people out like that.

  • So how is that screen from your television doing now after the years have passed since the magnet's whatever it did on the screen. lol *sigh*

  • Nah, I like my hard drive. I have no interest in that monitor though. I did that to our TV, when I was younger. There was a spot for a couple of days but it went away.

  • sweet fuck up that monitor....while your at it slap a couple on you hard drive
