I found Mattie's mom Jeni on facebook today and sent her a message and was so happy to get one in return. What a nice lady. Mattie and his spirit is the only way to lead your life. If I can say so he was the most amazing human being the world has ever known. God Bless you little one. May you always live on in our hearts forever.

He was a kid with an uncurable disease. He wrote poems (Has books...Heartsongs) and the singer Billy Gilman decided to sing Mattie's poems. My favorite is For Our World. He died in 2004. Known as a poet and peacemaker

It was muscular dystrophy, which his brother, Jamie (the only sibling he knew), and his other siblings, Katie and Stevie, died of (Katie and Stevie died of it before Mattie was born, so he only knew Jamie).

That's horrible I feel so bad that he never got to meet Katie and Stevie. At least he met Jamie. I've got a picture of him at 5 hrs. old and a picture of him and Jamie sometime at halloween trick 'or' treating.

this is heart wrenching. i saw the time he was on oprah. the show was supposed to be about john travoltas new movie but it turned into the mattie show and everyone on the show including travolta was crying like a baby. sad so so sad

I feel so bad that he happened to die only 5 days after his 14th birthday, but at least is wasn't like it was only 5 days till his birthday! Mattie was so inspirational and I think everybody should follow what he was trying to get at which was that you should do as much good as you can. WE LOVE YOU MATTIE!
