  • This made my day. I got into the Decemberists first few albums so so hard in high school. MORE BANDS SHOULD COVER THE DEAD. Us Dead heads aren't snobs. We like these covers! The song itself, as well as the cover here, is great!

  • can't say i'm digging it but then again I wasn't ever that much a fan of the slower Row Jimmys save a couple exceptions... always preferred the slightly rowdy early '73 versions

  • happily impressed! I'm a huge Dead fan, but I really dig this cover; well f'ing played Decembrists!

  • As good as this sounds, it just doesn't sound right without Jerry's soft, sweet voice singing it.

  • Love it! I adore The Dead. I never expected to hear The Decemberists cover them, but this is fantastic!

  • i'm so glad that the hipsters are allowed to listen to the dead now!

  • good job guys , Jerry would like it = )

  • @trampledbylambs Yes, I believe he would

  • Bros, it's gonna be on the new EP coming out Nov. 1. Studio version. For all of you wondering where to get a good quality version.

  • " julie catch a rabbit by it's hare " is the lyric but i'm just another picky deadhead... sounds great kids

  • Broken heart don't feel so bad. You ain't got half of what you thought you had.

  • I'm likin this interpretation

  • Brilliant. you can rip it off hypem using garageband. that's what i had to do.

  • I can't seem to get a hold of this piece at all, legally or otherwise. Anyone have any ideas? =/

  • Real nice touch on this one.. The stand-up bass makes it sway juuuuust right, and real crisp slide work.. Bobby, take note (inside joke ; )

  • I have to say that this song is actually a superb cover of the Divine of mortals. Yah decemberists and the 21st century! Heydiddlyo miscreiants!

  • oh man this is so sweet. done exceptionally well, awesome piano

  • this song makes me want to sway back and forth with an old pistol in my hand, whilst swinging that up in the air too.. anyone else?..

  • Between this phenomenal Dead cover and Built To Spill covering "Ripple" i hope all fans of good music can finally unite against modern day pop music. Here's to the future or Indie music, Jambands, and Americana.

  • I admit it - I've never been a Grateful Dead fan. But this kicks ass.

  • Hipster crossover appeal ftw!

  • As a Dead fan, I dig hearing newer bands cover the Dead Classics. Great song and great version.

  • @MtnBear07 The Decemberists are DeadHeads also!

  • @MtnBear07 Wow. It is so rare to see a fan of a band like a new cover. You are one in a million, my friend :D

  • @MtnBear07 Yeah, I've seen that a lot lately. They just appeal to so many people.

  • I liked Colin Maloy's voice better when he was a cashier at Bernice's Bakery in Missoula.

  • @megacrasher2000 if you think this is good you should check out this band called The Grateful Dead

  • exactly.

  • @blackstar82863 exactly.

  • @blackstar82863 hahaha idiot

  • @blackstar82863 Why don't you wash the smug off and have some respect for other people's taste in music? Thanks.

  • I admit it - I've never been a Grateful Dead fan. But this kicks ass.
