yes every where can be a flood plain but this year Fargo Moorhead was very supceptible to flooding because we got so much rain in the fall that when spring came the snow could not go into the ground wich caused a lot of over land flooding!!
I really think these people are jealous of their miserable cities so they have to talk shit about kick ass Fgo Mhd Their city's never been commended by a president for unbelievable community efforts and fighting something all as one. So they're all whining and needing some attention.
The whole upper midwest is a flood plain to the moron who wrote about how idiots only build houses on flood plains. But it is the most fertile ground in the USA. Because river bottoms are typically good ground to farm. So it is nessecary to live there so people like you to can eat. Stop worrying about your political party as they will be saving you sorry rear end soon from your own messiah in Washington. We knew you wouldn't help sandbag anyway. If you would work you'd not be a democrat.
I take a lot of offense to your last sentence. I was just up for 25 hours straight helping to man one of the Quick Response Teams protecting the dikes integrity. This is not a political issue.
Well I guess I wasn't talking to you then was I? I was talking to the man above who was calling people morons who buil houses on the flood plain he called the upper midwest. I told him it was a place nessacary to live so the farm ground which is so fertile can feed people. If you voted for Obama and are feeling guilty get some sleep some type of reality will set in when your rested, if it doesn't happen then your probably not watching him turn us into a weak, broke, socialist spineless country
I'm gonna give a quick lesson on politics to all of you who are pullin the bush card. Byron Dorgon, Kent Conrad, and Earl Pomeroy are all democrats. Even though the state voted republican in the presidency with our wopping two electoral votes, any bill that Bush tried to pass also had to go through the House and Senate where it needed a 2/3 majortity. As far as the farm subsidies go i think your just pissed that your congressman havent done as much as ours have to get money back into your hands.
I cannot believe that you people negatively commenting this cause are being so unsupportive. I hope one day you have a natural disaster and when the kind people of ND come help you (because past events have proven this) I hope you all realize that no matter where we are from in this country or what POLITICAL GROUP WE ARE APART OF (seriously, it's immature to want people to drown because they are Republican) we are all Americans and should support one another that way.
Do you think this has something to do with climate change and it can get worse????? If so, then these areas are finished and home owners will never get household insurance. Therefore, properties by the river are worthless. G.W.Bush denied climate change but will he help you lot now? Personally, I think that river bank properties are worth dixie shit right now.
And, you can fill all the sandbags you like, but floodwater will defeat you. Sorry for people who lose their homes, but climate change is here and now, and even Bush supporters are having to deal with this. Again, hope you people have good flood insurance.
Our state doesn't even have enough electoral votes to actually matter obviously most of the rest of the states voted for him aswell, and we all know it was a mistake... Also the stae is made up of farmers which go republican anyway due to the benefits in their farming.. A natural disaster has nothing to do with the presidency!
Are you kidding me? "Let em drown?!" You are the one who doesn't care about our country...you are the opposite of what is American. America is about lending a helping hand no matter what people's beliefs, race, or political views are. I am a Democrat, and you give us all a bad name.
I am sorry that you are ignorant and a tyrant, but that is really not North Dakotan's FAULT! Maybe YOU should pick up a book or a newspaper, because I know I do. Oh and by the way, not all North Dakotans are Republican--that is a stereotype if I ever heard one. You are somewhat of an idiot turning a national disaster into a political debate--get a life. Why don't you start putting your money where your mouth is and help the country you seem to think you are defending.
Let me point out a few things to you, you ignorant fool. First of all, you should really get some facts before you make comments like that, because you just end up looking like an idiot. North Dakota is part of the Northern Plains. AKA: some of the flattest terrain in the US. Mix that with the fact that there was a substantially higher amount of snowfall this winter and you have a flood on your hands. Where is the water going to go, buddy? Think about it, genius.
Not real bright are there "stevenpk34". Everywhere can flood if there is enough water. Everywhere becomes a floodplain with enough water.
Ever think about thinking before you open your mouth? Or do you just talk? Seriously. Take your skateboard, your tattoos and your urban punk @ss outta here. Ever think of that?
You should pick up a book or a newspaper. Start with a book on 9-11 then research how much the Bush budget was for the last 8 years and figure out how many times more the stimulus plan is bigger.
I'm coming from Buffalo to help sandbag. We here in Buffalo,NY heard the river could crest at 43 feet now. You guys in Fargo have lot's of support coming from Buffalo. Our National Gaurd is on stand by to rush in to your area. I'm taking an Amtrek train as we speak and I'm just passing Chicaco. I will be in Fargo by about 2pm EDT or 1pm CDT.
yo im from dickinson and the heart rivers pretty full up and now that we got 18 more inches of snow and it froze again im sure its only gona get worse..i know bismarcks bad i never remember bismarck ever flooding my whole life and im 19..but fargo is gona get the worse of it with a flood stage of 20 so feet and the rivers cresting a 41 feet on saturday..yet another record breaking year..rivals 97

So what did we do to the climate in the 1890s when the river was at last time?

This comment has received too many negative votes show
I pay 35% tax, I pay PLENTY.
I don't receive farm subsidies or other handouts like you people.
In fact, IT IS the fault of the people that BUILD/BUY ON A FLOODPLAIN.
Every few years we have to spend money, time and effort to help people out of their homes.
HOMES THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN BUILT IN THE FIRST PLACE.
