@Cornbinks The Chi spell that Uncle cast on Shendu rendered him unable to use the Sheep Talisman to project his spirit by likely reinforcing the original stone spell that turned him into a statue in the first place, thereby making the Rat useless. The only way to break the spell at that point was to put all 12 Talismans into Shendu. (if he had taken the Rat when he had the chance, he would have revived right there and actually could have assisted the enforcers from that point forward.)
