The Valiant was less advanced than the Vulcan and Victor but it had a elegant beauty all of its own. Over time, military aircraft gather all sorts of additional intakes, exhausts, flight refueling probes, aerials, jamming equipment etc. and become complete "messes" esthetically. The Valiant escaped most of these mods due to its early retirement, although it did gain a rather bizarre external refuelling pipe stuck on the outside of the nose.
@joluqa wonderfull, i just about finished my airfix valiant, and it wont be the last i build, wonderfull kit of a wonderfull plane, sat here next to my airfix b1a vulcan xa907 both in flash white both gorgeous, valiant done as xd857 now to finish the victor.
@joluqa its a good kit very good, just watch the central body spacers if your doing it bombay closed as they widen the body a little too much and the bay door hinges get little gap so sand about a fraction of a mm off the spacers were they meet the curvature of the body, unless your gonna show off the epic bombay and huge bomb.
i wonder if one day it would be affordable to build a new one to fly again with wing mods to prevent the low level stress problems as it has now become affordable to build new steam engines. though i know the technology on planes far exceeds the economy of a steam engine. still a good dream. id love to see a mock vulcan b1 built to view as i think its tradgic cosford scrapped the last one in 85 its so differnt to the b2 vulcan

A beautiful machine. A good friend of mine served with 214 Sqn and remembers these aircraft with great fondness. Thanks for such a fine tribute.
