Yes, technically this is a quadruple option. Every pass play is technically an option play, since the QB has multiple options. But the football connotation of the word "option" is that of a run-based play, with the QB distributing the ball through handoffs and laterals. Please, for the love of crap, rename this to something more accurate.
@AirUpThere12 Ah, I see now. I've heard of option routes, and of Mouse Davis's Run and Shoot. Unfortunately, my knee-jerk reaction was to think "option" referred to triple options and zone reads. I should have thought a little more about it. Thank you for the clarification.
The 4 options here are 1. Hand the ball off to the to the RB. 2. QB runs the ball. 3. Hit the bubble screen if the CB follows the WR. 4. Hit the WR if the CB bites on the bubble.
@blebo55557 Not trying to start anything. Just trying to clarify this. So when a quarterback runs a play-action and has three receivers to throw to this means that he has 5 options:
A. give to a running back
B. run the with the ball
C. throw to X receiver
D. throw to Y receiver
E. throw to Z receiver
Not sure if your logic is right, but I am not trying to start anything. Just stating my opinion.
In reality, this play is nothin but a read pass play

Ever hear of an option route and/or Mouse Davis? Saying that option is solely a run-based term is incorrect.
The play is designed to give the QB 4 options in sequential order:
1. Give to RB
2. Pull and run
3. Throw bubble screen
4. Throw the fade route
Therefore, it is a quadruple option and is being called that by football coaches across the country who have seen the play.

@GoCubsGoLee your wrong
it is a quad because the QB could have:
A. gave the ball on the dive
B. kept it and ran the ball
C. threw to the outside receiver
D.or throw (which he ended up doing) to the receiver down feild
