  • It's the tracks like this that made London Calling so good. They didn't get the fame that others did, but every track was different and they were all so damn good. And even if for some strange reason you didn't love the jazzy brass, the funky beats and powerful guitar, Joe's singing and lyrics were so engaging you could get ingrossed in the story.

  • I pirated this album in 2002, it was the first thin I put on my first Ipod! and now, I'm almost 20 years old, I've bought the vinyl, and still listen to them at least twice a week hahaha. FOREVER A FAN OF THE CLASH <3

  • i got this album when i was 12 like 4 years ago and this songs was so fantastic to me, i still listen to the clash all the time.

  • The journey the Clash took from iconoclast to rock classicist might have been upsetting if it weren't for the fact that their instincts for good music were so damned good. Why pretend rock is dead, etc., when it's responsible for stuff as great as this?

  • They broke the mold when they cast the Clash.

  • have a drink, listen to the clash, smile and repeat.

  • I have bought this album 2 days ago. I have found a discount in polish supermarket. ITS GREAT! I can not stop listening to it !

  • @johnnybooda - They are #2 behind Pink Floyd (1) and the Specials (1a)

  • when i first bought london calling all those years ago it didnt leave my cd player for...oh wait there it is.

  • i love this intro

  • yes, one of best album ever, with "Exile on main street" from Rolling Stones and "The dark side of the moob" of Pink Floyd

  • @viteili That comment may have turned out funnier than you intended it to...I agree, though.

  • @Taker1116 Well I read that he was a real person who wore a real hat that was stolen by his friend Billy after a night of drinking, and he shot him for it.

  • Why do people glorify Stagger Lee for killing his friend just for stealing a hat?

  • @soulessENERGY It's not the hat, it's the principal of the thing. And I have always the thought that the hat was just metaphoric.

  • @soulessENERGY Cos you don't touch another man's hat? Jos like touching another man's razor or record player. xD

  • I do enjoy Wilbert Harrison's version of Stagger Lee better than Lloyd Price's.

  • This here is MuziQ!!!!! Was covered last night at a backyard gig, it was a poor attempt but anything sounds good after a few beers with the M8's "Oi" to the world:D From Dt L.A.

  • top 3? Best band in the world. Ever.

  • ska ska ska

  • I love when songs are apropos. This one certainly was for me at different points in time.

  • Yeah this Album is the dogs !!!! From the front cover to the back & everything in between!!!!

  • IT IS THE RYAN BOYLE

  • I love The Beatles and I like Pink Floyd. But I don't understand why The Clash isn't more popular. I mean, it's famous within certain circles, but the sound and style innovation are only comparable with The Beatles or PF and maybe Jimi Hendrix. Sandinista! is just as huge as The Dark Side of The Moon or The White Album for example, and it annoys me when my friends say "The Clash? oh yeah, the were good... the were punk guys right?".

  • I'll be honest--these guys are great in their studio albums, but I can't understand anything happening when I listen to or see a live performance of theirs. Strummer--or any other singer in The Clash--can be very hard to understand when he's singing, if only because of his heavy accent.

  • Best way to listen to this album is from start to finish without interruption!!! Fantastic!!

  • 1:17 misherd- "ja ci kur*a jebne" :) pozdrawiam

  • I heard Buck-o-Nine covered this song on their album "Barfly" in 1996, I plead ignorance, I didn't know it was originally by The Clash, that's pretty cool.

  • @Medalion ....originally by the Clash? Well, kind of hard to say....the intro is surely based on Loyd Price's 'Stagger Lee' (which is a great song look it up!) and Stagger Lee of course goes back to the 19th century

  • Yeah, Stagger Lee, Stagolee, Stacker Lee...

There is a classic epic version by Julius Lester, very hard to find but well worth it.

  • Don't you know it is wrong

    to cheat the Stagger Man!

  • its sad that 21770 people listen to the clash......im shocked no one listens..i will continue to listen...its great music

  • Stagger lee !

  • AMAZING ALBUM!!! a must listen to for any music fan

  • THE BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME!!!!

  • This album is the tightest I ever listened too...

Rock the Casbah and Should I stay or go... were an insult to the title album, London Calling and Give 'em enough rope...

As fresh today as the day I first listened to it 31 years ago

Only group that is a worthy successor today is Green Day

A natural evolution I think... Joe Strummer would have liked Billy Bob

  • @MEAdesigns Lol! so profound right up until the mention of "Billy Bob"

  • @MEAdesigns Hey, don't forget about their Debut album. The Self titled was just as good as either of the its two followers.

  • my cousins step father name is boyo lol

  • THE STANDERD,no cunt comes close

  • For me this is the most influential band in the world, and one of the greatest band ever! for sure, they are so great, this album is just crazy!

  • What could I say?

Well, they're The Clash, all is already said!!!!

  • Way above the level of a average cover, normally i say the cover is better cause is the first. But now no,this is amazing, better then the original. One of the best bands ever.

  • I agree, The Clash really had a way with covers. I would say almost every cover they did was better then the original, which is pretty rare.

  • @johnnydinkis2 I completely agree... I think their cover of "I Fought the Law" is the best.

  • I heard all covers of clash, and I must say that the clash has a talent to do covers, its incredible. the covers of the clash are awesome, and so are their own songs!

the clash and nirvana are my two favourites bands :D

  • possibly one of best albums EVER made in the world.

  • @fshgjguhergbertyuihg i wouldnt be suprised

  • @fshgjguhergbertyuihg not possibly. exactly the 8th best (according to Rolling Stone).

  • @MatheusBond

Rolling Stone gave into PC pressure. They put black bands near the top just not to seem racist.

  • @MatheusBond

NO, they have the 8th best ALBUM, they are actually the 30somethingth best band according to RS (which is actually BS) lol

  • @fshgjguhergbertyuihg Possibly? Nah, DEFINATELY one of the best albums EVER made in the world.

  • @fshgjguhergbertyuihg "probably"? You got it all wrong. It 'IS' one of the best albyns ever made in the world!

  • @fshgjguhergbertyuihg How about, THE Best?? I love every track on this album, and can listen to it over and over again. Was released the year i was born, and I always say I was born at least 10 years to late.

  • Such a rip off of The Jam.

  • @brokennarcissist Do you know what "Fuck you" means?

  • @CarusoV3i It means you have a limited vocabulary :)

  • @brokennarcissist yeah fuck you cunt the clash kick the shit out the jam you prick.

  • @brokennarcissist hahahaha

  • This is not good. At all.

    THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME.

  • i'd would definately go as far to say the clash is in the top 3 best bands of the world.... ever.

not only for the music they made, but on an influential level aswell... and if you read about how the actually recorded the songs, i.e all the guirar over dubs etc and also how they incorporated other genres into their music... to do that in the 70's and beyond is incredible...

The Clash are hands down better than any band around today.

  • @johnnybooda

What bands could possibly be better than The Clash (you said top THREE).

  • @johnnybooda

    any band around today?

    nah

  • london calling record i got it 2 weeks ago for my birthday!

  • shameless - the fratellis (chorus)

  • Damn it is. I hadn't put that together.

  • London Calling-Probably the best LP done by the Clash ?

  • or any band since. Sets the bar really high for any debt tbh,.

  • absolutely, and one of the best records in music history

  • esta de poca madre

  • I think I will buy it, all the songs are amazingly incredible haha

  • You mean you don't already have it? your in for a fun time.

  • that's what they say :)

  • My favorite song on the album. I love it. If anyone whos viewing this hasn't already bought "London Calling", buy it now!
