Why is everyone talking about rappers and pop artists? Evanescence does not fit in that category so their existence is completely irrelevant in Evanescence's possible nomination in an award, because they would fit in the rock categories, with some songs fitting into the pop category. TOD is nothing compared to the boom Fallen caused in the industry, by the time TOD was released, most people had already been introduced to the REAL female metal scene, which shows Evanescence is not a novelty.
Shame on the Grammy awards . They missed it. Amy and her band are truly artists. The singing and the music are top notch. Hopefully some day they will get the recognition they deserve.

I got tons of friends hooked on Evanescence and other artists. I would love to see her do a collabo with someone like Alicia Keys, India Arie, Sade (like No Oridinary love) or even Mary J. Blige would work. Long as its true artistry and REAL music...bring that back.

I think the Open Door had much more complicated songs than Fallen. I love Fallen, but every time I listen The Open Door I hear or feel something different. I think this vid must be from late 2006, because Evanescence was nominated for 1 Grammy in 12/07 for the 2008 awards - Best Hard Rock Performance for "Sweet Sacrifice," which just lost to the Foo Fighters' "The Pretender" at the ceremony tonight. I think that was fair.
The announcer in the vid made a little mistake - Evanescence's 2 Grammys were awarded in 2004, not 2003. The recordings which won were in 2003, but not the award ceremony itself.
Fallen was a great album but it was so mainstream. All the songs were so.. sellable while The Open Door is more specific. It really weeds the fans of Evanescence's unique sound from the unspecificity of Fallen.
You're assuming the award shows actually honor artists. They don't. They honor good business deals. You may call Fallen "mainstream" but it was out there enough that the only reason it got those two Grammy's was because of the collective voice of 15 million sold. And even then, it was grudging.
Well I don't like the title of this video... The reporter didn't checked the periods... Evanescence couldn't be nominated with "The Open Door" in last year's Grammy Awards because the album was released in October 3, and the covered period for last year's awards ended in September. Evanescence are canditates for nominations in various awards this year! Go Ev! :)
Who needs a Grammy? The reward for making music is inside you and the people who love what you make, no matter how many that is. No matter what Evanescence will make great songs.
It's strange though because the open door is a lot harder rock than fallen, but it also has way more piano and the strings are more complicated and prettiful. It has more of everything. Fallen was a collection of Evanescence's most mainstream stuff, The Open Door is a collection of Evanescence's most creative stuff...You don't need grammies to have an original and amazing album :)

wow! they sold 14mill and only 1mill for the second album...that sux! but i LOVE both albums and bought them because they still ROCK!!! ALWAYZ N 4EVER!!!!

her new album sold only 1 million copies? when her past album "fallen" sold 14 million? wow! i love both albums and "the open door" album i have to say is a bit different then her first but i love it because she sings about personal struggles i and many others can relate, the new album should have gotten atleast nominated

The 1 million copies was just from the US, and this was taped a long time ago, The Open Door has sold roughly 5 000 000 worldwide.

I thought that the open door was actually nominated for a lot of stuff--i heard best rock performance for sweet sacrifice--but just didn't win. Am i wrong? correct me if I am.

I think this vid must be from late 2006, because Evanescence was nominated for 1 Grammy in 12/07 for the 2008 awards - Best Hard Rock Performance for "Sweet Sacrifice," which just lost to the Foo Fighters' "The Pretender" at the ceremony tonight. I think that was fair.

The announcer in the vid made a little mistake - Evanescence's 2 Grammys were awarded in 2004, not 2003. The recordings which won were in 2003, but not the award ceremony itself.

Fallen was a great album but it was so mainstream. All the songs were so.. sellable while The Open Door is more specific. It really weeds the fans of Evanescence's unique sound from the unspecificity of Fallen.

I agree but if you look at their music videos, the ones like Call Me When You're Sober have more views than those back in 2003.
I think that it's just a lot easier now to get their music from iTunes and the like nowadays. So that's why more CD's aren't selling.

You're assuming the award shows actually honor artists. They don't. They honor good business deals. You may call Fallen "mainstream" but it was out there enough that the only reason it got those two Grammy's was because of the collective voice of 15 million sold. And even then, it was grudging.

Well I don't like the title of this video... The reporter didn't checked the periods... Evanescence couldn't be nominated with "The Open Door" in last year's Grammy Awards because the album was released in October 3, and the covered period for last year's awards ended in September. Evanescence are canditates for nominations in various awards this year! Go Ev! :)

Who needs a Grammy? The reward for making music is inside you and the people who love what you make, no matter how many that is. No matter what Evanescence will make great songs.

the open door is miles better than fallen.
It's strange though because the open door is a lot harder rock than fallen, but it also has way more piano and the strings are more complicated and prettiful. It has more of everything. Fallen was a collection of Evanescence's most mainstream stuff, The Open Door is a collection of Evanescence's most creative stuff...You don't need grammies to have an original and amazing album :)
