  • God, if she and Sinatra ever had a child, it'd be the best singer in the world.

  • What a unique voice. She was successful across several genres, but did not manage to get the acclaim she deserved in her own time. To me, she is right up there with the more renowned and acknowleged female singers of that long ago era. Her voice and delivery are mesmerizing. Again, what culturally and musically denuded times we live in. Thank heavens for the internet and many thanks for posting this.

  • Wow Joan, I am amazed that I had never heard of this very talented singer until viewing your postings. She's wonderful! Could it be that her fame was dampened by focussing too much on boogie-woogie-inspired songs, a groovy but unfortunately rather limited art form? Also, in my view, the loud brassy orchestrations (especially the intros) become rather annoying. Thanks for producing these videos. Perhaps thereby Ella Mae can reclaim her rightful place among the very best big band singers!

  • Very cool! She had such a cool sound;) Thanks for posting *****

  • Yes Miss Morse stands alone, with no one to compare, many thanks for your comment .
