That is only if Gerber can be consistent because he is inconsistent. He sometimes will put up spectacular performances and then the next game will give up too many soft goals...Sens seem to have their best players injured at the wrong time.

Well, it's hard to argue with Gerbs' 49 saves in Game 2 against the Pens. If his teammates could help with a bit of defense here and there, the Sens might go a bit further than the first round of postseason play.

He's not past his prime. Sens can still sign him to another 3 year deal after next season, bring up glass or elliot as the backup. Good goalies play tell there late 30's tho, so maybe he can last longer.

Gerber was sick and threw up on the bench ... that's when Ward took over. When Gerber became healthy, Ward was stealing the show - why take out a hot goaltender? Especially in the playoffs?

Gerber had no chance to regain the number 1 position as he was traded to Ottawa that off-season.
