In NW lower Michigan we have a pretty nice (do they call em Steelhead up there) season as well. By the end of Oct . though, it is starting to move toward the winter river fishing time frame, so without a boat it gets very interesting. :) I've only hit this run once & I doubt I'll attempt it alone again, haha , I didn't get wet, but it actually got a bit scary in waders and 3 feet of snow :)~

That's cool. I fished the banks of the Kenai River back in 1993 while there for a 2 m onth work trip. Had a couple late nights at the Back Door Lounge in Kenai as well. Awesome place. And that snagging hole in Homer was fun too.
