WCC Welding Program - Washtenaw Community College

I'll be at the Welding competition in about 8 hours from now, representing Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northeast.

In the video, Jake Holland emphatically states that WCC's welding program is the best. Has he heard of:

Hobart, Lincoln, Tulsa, the Navy Hull School, etc?

WCC's associates program requires a full 8 credit hours of OAW welding. That's outrageous considering that most welders will NEVER use a gas torch for anything more than cutting or heating. With the exception of short-circuit GMAW, the school never teaches any wire-fed processes. Flux-core and spray transfer are the future.

Thanks for watching! We appreciate your feedback. The other schools mentioned are private and cost more to attend than WCC. Our students consistently get good jobs and advance their careers, with a great start from WCC. They also continually excel at SkillsUSA, including one student going on to represent the US in international competition. These could be several reasons why Jake feels that WCC is the best. We take pride in our students and their accomplishments.
