i watched the fight more than once and the main reason the fight was so bad was hopkins in reverse for the full 12, faking injury, pot shotting, he was just dire. calzaghe had an off day and bernard couldn't have done any better. the knockdown was no knockdown. hopkins momentum going forward takes joe over not bhops power. if hopkins was fighting in my backyard, i'd draw the curtains. best fights i watched recently the 'israel vasquez 'vs' rafael marquez trilogy.

After watching Hopkins/Calzaghe again, I had the fight a draw, with the last round being scored even. I gave Hopkins 1-3,7, and 10 and Calzaghe 4-6,8,9, and 11. Remember Hopkins gets the extra point for the knockdown. This fight was not widely in Calzaghe's favor. None of his punches were landing clean, they were mostly clipping Bernard's shoulders as he rolled them off. Bernard did a lot of clinch-initiating, but you can't penalize him for doing so. It's a strategy and it's part of boxing.
Can't believe this clip got 15,00 views. That just crazy considering it's a boxing show and it hasn't even been up a week. Come on guys, give the competition a chance!
Hopkins is a good fighter, but this wasn´t really an equal fight with Hoplins being such a veteran even though I love Calzage and support him. But please stop all that head butting and holding on please boxers!
Maybe, but I believe Chad will bring out the best in Calzaghe, cuz it will be Chad's physical skills vs. Calzaghe's boxing skills. Dawson is fast and throws a lot of punches too, but his have snap on them. Joe is the more complete fighter, but Chad is dynamic from the outside.
After mulling it over, I think both Pavlik and Dawson get beaten by Calzaghe. Dawson is still not ready and Pavlik can be outboxed. Why do you think Arum won't put him in with a small Winky Wright, despite Winky being the best name available? He cannot handle an elite boxer, at least not yet. Calzaghe is an elite boxer and very versatile. I think Dawson has a better style for Calzaghe because his handspeed can match Joe punch for punch, and he has more power than Joe does.
The only real test I see for Joe is Chad Dawson. I would still love to see Pavlik or Roy Jones fight him too but I think only Dawson can really push him.
On another note though, as much as I like Joe, his father seems almost useless. I swear Joe just tunes him out.

First I don't know Who's Joe is. Im an Asian. I watched his fight videos, and Im quiet impress with Joe speed, but he's punch is like slapping punch. But I think those slapping punch is the punch that make Hopkins bigiining to melt down in the fight. The dirty Tactics of Hopkins makes boxing fans hate him a lot. Those low blows to make him rest for more minutes, because he's out of gas already. The whole world know's it. Shame on you Hopkins.
Hopkins is a great fighter, there's no question about it, but he is actually a boring legend fighetr of the generation. People pay hundred bucks to watch the fight, but he performs bad as a fighter, throwing only few punches and wrestling every seconds. He's not actually a prize fighter. He has a lot of defense fights, but few only are good fights, those are boring fights that anyone can't be able to remember.
Joe seems not intimidated and afraid of Hopkins. It's the contrary. Hopkins seems afraid of Joe. After that first knockdown, Joe seems willing to win the fight, keeps coming forward. Although hopkins has a strong punch, but Joe has a strong chin.
I hope Joe now retires undefeated champ. I would hate to see his ego massaged by his new found US fans and end up regretting it after landing on the canvas in one of his next fights. He still needs 5 more wins to take the record and that will be a long hard road for Joe. Great vid btw guys.

Hopkins is even worse than Ricky Hatton, at least Hugman Hatton hits you before he hugs. Hopkins runs away then hugs killing all possible action. He should be DQed, but he was barely even warned.
In his prime I still pick Calzaghe because Hopkins would have opened up more, leaving more opportunities for Joe as well, who will still be faster. But it would be a much closer, more entertaining fight.

The problem with clips of the fight is that for some reason awhile back we were accused of Copywright infringement and we never used a clip at all but Top Rank (Bob Arum's Company) stated that we did so. Youtube gave us a warning and stated that if we did that again they would ban us. We disputed all allegations and no answers were given back to us by Top Rank nor Youtube therefore rather than risk the show we would rather describe it then show the clips. Thanks for the support.

8 rounds to Calzaghe 4 to Hopkins but just about. Hopkins used his head too much and held on as he couldn´´t cope with the pressure so I took that into account.

It couldn't be called a domination by any stretch of the imagination, Hopkins landed some great shots in every round, particulary close quarter body shots. Watch the replay, Hopkins had Calzaghe hurt and in Joe's own words he "found it very hard in there", he said it was one of his toughest fights ever which should clear up any thoughts about him dominating the fight in any way. Domination? Calzaghe v Lacy was domination but Calzaghe v Hopkins was nothing of the kind.
HAHA Joe could barely beat a 43 year old man and was even dropped by him. He's lucky this fight didnt take place 5,6 years ago. A MORE PRIME hOPKINS WOULDA HAD A FIELD DAY WITH HIM. Boxing is a about landing clean punches. Even an old-ass version of Hopkins landed more of the cleaner work. Hopkins controlled him for the 1st half. Hopkins just got tired and showed his age in the later half.
I don't think Bhop really had more stamina back then...As Bhop's gotten older, he's worked to maintain the same level of stamina his whole career (which is why the man fighting at the age of 43 isn't insane).
Hopkins landed the more cleaner, harder punches whereas Joe had many more attempts and displayed more willingnes,energy but rarely landed clean so I can see where B-Hop has beef but Joe won it cuz B-Hop held constantly. That ultimately turned off the judges. I agree Joe won a close fight based on aggressiveness.
ok my tuppence. Wasn't a great fight IMO from what I saw B-Hop needed to hold Joe 10 times a round but through few combinations. He knew that the only way to beat him was to effectively counter. But as a counter puncher you need to knock the other guy out to win! Or he'll beat you on work rate. B-Hop cannot complain, but I will say the fight was closer than the 3rd Judge called it

This was as clear cut a win as there is. One guy outlands the other by almost double, and is the aggressor and the other guy initiates all the clinches and barely punches. It was a wipeout.
I stayed up to watch the fight, first I thought Joe looked to relaxed and his mind was in the wrong place I think thats why he walked into the brilliant right by Hopkins, after that Joe cotrolled the rest of the fight and derserve the win. my final throught is that ricky hatton is going to be sitting at hme and woundering why joe cortez the ref let hopkins work the inside because when he was fighting mayweather cortez called him for holding which made his game plan hard which was to rough him up
I think Joe C. was controlled by Hopkins in the first four rounds but as Joe C. fans we know he just gets better as the rounds go by, the problem is Hopkins does as well so it was a good fight. The only thing that would have made it better would have been less holding. Overall we saw two outstanding boxers play chess for awhile and the one that won was the right choice by the refs.

Anyone who watched that fight and tells me Hopkins isn't a disgrace to boxing needs to come down to earth.
The fact that Calzaghe was:
- debuting in that weight division
- debuting in america
- knocked down in first round
- fighting a CHEATER
- not performing at his best
AND still win the fight shows me Calzaghe has great determination and is a true legend.
Calzaghe will always come out on top no matter who the opponant is, the ability to adapt within the ring is very rare.

i watched the fight more than once and the main reason the fight was so bad was hopkins in reverse for the full 12, faking injury, pot shotting, he was just dire. calzaghe had an off day and bernard couldn't have done any better. the knockdown was no knockdown. hopkins momentum going forward takes joe over not bhops power. if hopkins was fighting in my backyard, i'd draw the curtains. best fights i watched recently the 'israel vasquez 'vs' rafael marquez trilogy.

After watching Hopkins/Calzaghe again, I had the fight a draw, with the last round being scored even. I gave Hopkins 1-3,7, and 10 and Calzaghe 4-6,8,9, and 11. Remember Hopkins gets the extra point for the knockdown. This fight was not widely in Calzaghe's favor. None of his punches were landing clean, they were mostly clipping Bernard's shoulders as he rolled them off. Bernard did a lot of clinch-initiating, but you can't penalize him for doing so. It's a strategy and it's part of boxing.

Maybe, but I believe Chad will bring out the best in Calzaghe, cuz it will be Chad's physical skills vs. Calzaghe's boxing skills. Dawson is fast and throws a lot of punches too, but his have snap on them. Joe is the more complete fighter, but Chad is dynamic from the outside.

After mulling it over, I think both Pavlik and Dawson get beaten by Calzaghe. Dawson is still not ready and Pavlik can be outboxed. Why do you think Arum won't put him in with a small Winky Wright, despite Winky being the best name available? He cannot handle an elite boxer, at least not yet. Calzaghe is an elite boxer and very versatile. I think Dawson has a better style for Calzaghe because his handspeed can match Joe punch for punch, and he has more power than Joe does.

The only real test I see for Joe is Chad Dawson. I would still love to see Pavlik or Roy Jones fight him too but I think only Dawson can really push him.

First I don't know Who's Joe is. Im an Asian. I watched his fight videos, and Im quiet impress with Joe speed, but he's punch is like slapping punch. But I think those slapping punch is the punch that make Hopkins bigiining to melt down in the fight. The dirty Tactics of Hopkins makes boxing fans hate him a lot. Those low blows to make him rest for more minutes, because he's out of gas already. The whole world know's it. Shame on you Hopkins.

Hopkins is a great fighter, there's no question about it, but he is actually a boring legend fighetr of the generation. People pay hundred bucks to watch the fight, but he performs bad as a fighter, throwing only few punches and wrestling every seconds. He's not actually a prize fighter. He has a lot of defense fights, but few only are good fights, those are boring fights that anyone can't be able to remember.

Hopkins is even worse than Ricky Hatton, at least Hugman Hatton hits you before he hugs. Hopkins runs away then hugs killing all possible action. He should be DQed, but he was barely even warned.
In his prime I still pick Calzaghe because Hopkins would have opened up more, leaving more opportunities for Joe as well, who will still be faster. But it would be a much closer, more entertaining fight.

The problem with clips of the fight is that for some reason awhile back we were accused of Copywright infringement and we never used a clip at all but Top Rank (Bob Arum's Company) stated that we did so. Youtube gave us a warning and stated that if we did that again they would ban us. We disputed all allegations and no answers were given back to us by Top Rank nor Youtube therefore rather than risk the show we would rather describe it then show the clips. Thanks for the support.

It couldn't be called a domination by any stretch of the imagination, Hopkins landed some great shots in every round, particulary close quarter body shots. Watch the replay, Hopkins had Calzaghe hurt and in Joe's own words he "found it very hard in there", he said it was one of his toughest fights ever which should clear up any thoughts about him dominating the fight in any way. Domination? Calzaghe v Lacy was domination but Calzaghe v Hopkins was nothing of the kind.

Hopkins landed the more cleaner, harder punches whereas Joe had many more attempts and displayed more willingnes,energy but rarely landed clean so I can see where B-Hop has beef but Joe won it cuz B-Hop held constantly. That ultimately turned off the judges. I agree Joe won a close fight based on aggressiveness.

ok my tuppence. Wasn't a great fight IMO from what I saw B-Hop needed to hold Joe 10 times a round but through few combinations. He knew that the only way to beat him was to effectively counter. But as a counter puncher you need to knock the other guy out to win! Or he'll beat you on work rate. B-Hop cannot complain, but I will say the fight was closer than the 3rd Judge called it

Bhop was robbed, plain and simple. imagine having a guy slap his way to P4P number 1. a joke. Hopkins showed him up, easy to see why he waited till Nard was 43 before he fought him

Calzaghe gritted it out in the middle. I was very put off by the total asshole that is BHopkins. His tactics showed fear and tiredness.

This was as clear cut a win as there is. One guy outlands the other by almost double, and is the aggressor and the other guy initiates all the clinches and barely punches. It was a wipeout.

I stayed up to watch the fight, first I thought Joe looked to relaxed and his mind was in the wrong place I think thats why he walked into the brilliant right by Hopkins, after that Joe cotrolled the rest of the fight and derserve the win. my final throught is that ricky hatton is going to be sitting at hme and woundering why joe cortez the ref let hopkins work the inside because when he was fighting mayweather cortez called him for holding which made his game plan hard which was to rough him up

I think Joe C. was controlled by Hopkins in the first four rounds but as Joe C. fans we know he just gets better as the rounds go by, the problem is Hopkins does as well so it was a good fight. The only thing that would have made it better would have been less holding. Overall we saw two outstanding boxers play chess for awhile and the one that won was the right choice by the refs.
