Amen...to all of the below comments...Lou was special...Loved this song...got me through some post high school heartbreaks...what soulful emotions that touch us all...
This is one of the greatest songs ever. I wish Lou would have done more ballads and not developed a more casual and informal style with weaker material. I'm sure no one agrees with me. "You'll never find another love like mind" is just one example of a cool smooth song but missing something imo and not the heavy hitter that Love is a Hurting thing is.. I never liked "You'll never find.." or most of his songs.
Great memory from when my brother went into the marines in 1966. He loved thisa song. He went to Vietnam but when and was wounded badly and when he returned he use to always play this record.
#13pop,1966.one of his best early hits.

This is the one that established brother Rawls as a solo artist.
Remember another writer profiling this '66 hit in some book with the caption,
"This was Soul"
Agree.
Lou was the real deal, very few equals, right up there with the Great Sam Cooke
and the late Johnny Taylor (who replaced him in the Soul Stirrers)
I love listening to "bring it on home" with Sam Cooke, (goosebumps).
Thank You for this, as always.
