Je ne sais pas pour vous mais moi, quand ça fait 100 fois que j'entend la même musique aux 10 secs, un moment donné, je crois que j'aurais fermé le son
I still have this on disk, whether it still works though is anyone's guess. Used to play it hours but I never managed to finish. Shame the lazy programmer didn't even bother to change the default colour registers.
I had this game; it was so frustrating that these long play games like this, Pitfall and others had no save feature. I never had the time, and unfortunately not the skill to win this game. Good job! I still have my Atari 800 and 7600!
Oh yes. I remember how happy I was when i finally finished this game and saw those ending. It was very difficult to finish because there was no possibility of saving the game in Spelunker. Thank you for posting this.
Btw the intro screen of Spelunker had a very nice music based on Promenade by Modest Mussorgsky. If you could made a clip with it I would be very grateful.
I had this game on my C64. I really wanted to like it more, but the collision detection, at least in that version, was just too sensitive. The little guy would die all the time for no good reason.
I played this game back in the day on an Atari 800XL. And played it. And played it.
It probably took me over 100 tries to beat the whole game but it was impossible to stop trying! I think this game alone justified the purchase of an Atari computer... it's just a shame I was too poor back then and had to camp out at my friend's house to play these games.
It was everything a good platform game should be. VERY hard, lots of cool stages, and just a hint of randomness - come on extra life!!
thanks very much...I discovered this bug of immortality during the escape from enemy when i tried to hide into water, just get killed in the same time and got immortal, anyway sometimes the bug fails and the water beast got trapped out of water and u cant move...
Sometime when you fall from a very high distance (in a straight line) and you hold the direction up, you´ll crash and see the decapitation and stuff and then it will keep jumping and in a moment, regenerate the head.
This game kicked butt when it was released. From the intro music, to the deep depths of the cavern. IMO, the best part was the narrative on the back of the box. Anyone remeber that? "Black as the ace of spades down there, and sticky-hot"...
haha good old days

Got this game for my 800 the first day it came out and even visited the programers who lived in my city. Still one of my all time favs.
