Dead Rising was different in the sense that you can kill many zombies at once easily, and the overall game had humerous elements. This game is just trying to be more realistic by making the zombies harder to kill and more scary.

This game was suppose to be released back in 2008. If you all remember Valve released their zombie game Left 4 Dead. Also being sure not to have Dead Island be overshadowed as just another zombie game the release date was set back to 2011, Giving them 3 more years to perfect an awesome zombie game. Now the official Date is Sept. 6th, 2011 and I will be the first to purchase it.

What the....this isn't a steaming bowl ov emotional exploitation like the other "trailer', the one that features sad music but no actual gameplay, and is just a cutscene that probably won't be in the game anyway. Such as, replicating the biomechanics of how a dragon would fly in Elder Scrolls Skyrim. It's fictional, but you can use naturally occuring aerodynamic properties. And while it may be that the Zombie-Based games are in mass production, it doesn't mean there can't be one shining star. I'm not saying this is it, but it's highly possible.

Well I guess I was avoiding the real issue. Which is that a huge part of the industry equates brown + bloom to reality. And I look at this, and I see an over-stylised world, that everyone calls realistic, and has been done by a million games before it. And I don't think 1 more bloomed game = the best.

Also, the biomechanics of a dragon? Do you leave anything open for suspension of disbelief? I'd rather have a game advertise the ways it doesn't stick to reality then the ways it does.

Yes, I leave things open to disbelief, and of course you can call "magic" on dragons, so I'm not entirely strict, and the way it looks like the dragons are being designed is not enough to keep them airborne, I'm just saying you CAN consider a game realistic.

The game's most definately coming out. Techland is opening a new studio in Warsaw with Dead Island as its main goal right now. The publisher's insisting on keeping the game really low-profile though, no new media or even info can be released as of now.

And yes, Resident Evil 4 does beat it for the time being, taking into account that it's released and all.

Yea this is not a sequel. Capcom has already confirmed they are working on DR2 but Dead Island is being done by a different company, and is not ( both company and game ) affiliated with each other. Regardless it still seems interesting. I am a little bit of a fanatic when it comes to zombie stuff, so really high chance of me playing this if/once this game comes out.

Also, to clear even more up settings wise. DR2 takes place in a Vegas kinda setting. Dead Island takes place, in well.. a island.

Apparently the story to this is something like a plane crashes and a man goes to look for his wife before flesh eating zombies find her. It's a first person survival horror and it's meant to be free form - like FarCry.

The environments are going to dynamically change as the zombies take hold and you make your own make shift weapons and use nearly anything to kill the zombies.
