no point with a 1.6.. in the new year im doing a turbo conversion (currently have 1.6 8v), but, the more sensible method, getting the 2.0ltr GTi6 lump and box ancillaries loom etc.. then on top of that cosworth forged pistons (10.8:1 CR with a 86.5 bore / going to bore the block out 0.5mm as they generally warp slightly over time)... this with a TD04 (was going to put a TD05, but the power will never get to the floor).. this with many other little parts which i wont go into here, plus a map = :D
@1986simonchapman the above is expected to produce somewhere around the 350+bhp ...much much more exciting than 180.. and bare in mind the GTi6 at standard is an extremely nippy car @ 167bhp.. rinses golf gtis and is probs the quickest in its class.. imagine what the above produces!! ok so its setting me back about £2k.. but you wait till i see the faces of jap car owners when they are left behind :) :) that look is priceless!
@jarrus464 doesnt matter now.. ditched that idea and the pug is now gone - did the sensible thing and bought a real car.. a scooby RA which already has 300bhp... :)
@1986simonchapman I do like scoobies, but the GTI6 is a real car also, rave reviews from motoring magazines like EVO and Autocar proves it's a brilliant motor
@jarrus464 oh totally agreed, GTi6's are brilliant cars - JC gave a brilliant review on TG for it, it just takes a lot of money and effort to get it passed the boundaries whereas jap performance is so much easier and cost less in the interim till you reach true high performance standard - even since my last post a month ago I am now running a little over 400bhp for only a little of £500 of investment, granted now i need better brakes as brake fade is a constant issue but none the less... :)
@1986simonchapman No doubt, I do find though that jap cars are a bit "soulless" if you know what I mean,
They are extremely capable tools, but that is all they are, instruments for going fast, I like to "drive" without haveing a computer to help me, I respect them but have no love for them.
Having said that though there is 1 jap car I would buy with my own money and that's a 350Z, a bit different from the normal computerised 4WD stuff you usually get, I think it's bloody fantastic...
@jarrus464 i know what you mean there, not to mention the costs involved with maintenance as they are highly tuned from the beginning.
350Z are lovely, theres one that parks directly opp me at home, cant help but look everytime - and having come from its Z predocessor the 300ZX it is certainly a lovely car. Just a shame they are on somewhat of a different price scale lol
@1986simonchapman Yeah, 3000miles between oil changes.... bloody hell...lol, and yes the price difference between them is rather massive, a good 350z is about £8000 these days?
@jarrus464 haha exactly i tend to do mine more regularly than that, to play it safe i do one every month - keeps it nice and healthy plus always a good excuse to give it a lil service (if necessary) at the same time - which is quite costly when you look at the price of oil these days!! yea that sounds about right, i mean i paid 1600 for my scooby, 400 for my pug.. then you get to 350Z prices.. lol.. but however, they are far much more of a car - you certainly get what you pay for imo
@jarrus464 its a type RA v2 - got it for a bargin really as is mint and was fully standard (which is what i was after and is hard to find these days), that was a month or so ago, since then have purchased a new re-built engine, new g-reedy clutch, new Z4 ECU, new HKS BOV, new HKS induction, Apexi mass air flow arm, Scorpion Exhaust system (cat back), and hopefully by this weekend i should have my replacement TD05H 20G turbo (twin scroll) and should hopefully be picking up a boost controller
@jarrus464 you were right.they have a kit for 1900 euro but i will need pistons(5-600 euro) and an stand alone ecu(1000+ euro) and someone to program it(4-500 euro),injectors(200-300 euro),fuel pump(100-200 euro)and maybe i forget some parts like an intercooler etc.so the sum is 4500 euro and the most i will get from this shitty 8v engine safely is 120-130hp so it's useless.i'm going to swap for a 1.6 16v 120hp.i can buy a damaged 106 s16 for 600 euro and i can take the brakes too from the car.
@dukeofdream on there website you can see a 206 1.4 8v with 2 turbos and a supercharger with 175 bhp with stock internals, but that did have the engine compression lowered to suit, but you will be surprised how much these engines can take when setup properly, the 1.6 16v engine is good but the brakes for the 106gti are bad for the 306, there a little on the small side, I suggest going for either 306 gti6 brakes or 206 gti180 brakes they are v.similar and also get a gti6/hdi/xsi rear disc beam
@jarrus464 finally i swapped for a 1.6 16v engine...i got a rear disc beam from a gti6...unfortunatelly i couldn't find the front brakes and my only option was brakes from a saxo vts 1.6...the braking is a little improved but still not good...the feel of power is incredible though and the fuel consumption is not much higher than before with the 1.4 engine...

@1986simonchapman TD04 is too small for there engines and 10.8:1 comp is too high for turbo conversion.

@1986simonchapman got it all on now mate? How much power you got now? :P
jarrus464 4 months ago
could be from dp engineering?
jarrus464 1 year ago
lol my stock SR20DE has more power than that turbo 306 engine
REPOMAN24722 2 years ago
yours is a purpose-built 2litre engine..
this is a 1.6 with a turbo. not much comparison, but I'd choose the pug anyday. Lighter and sweet handling

pod filter looks a bit wobbly lmao

is this a 1.4?i'm thinking on doing the same on my 306...can you tell me what moddifications he did and what horsepower he got?
dukeofdream 2 years ago
this is a 1.6 and it was running bout 180whp,
gordycpk 2 years ago
Why turbo the small shitty engines? Why not turbo the XU10J4RS GTi6 lump? you would be able to get around 3-400 bhp on low to medium boost
PugMarshall2906 1 year ago
@dukeofdream
1,6 and the 1.4 are basically the same engine,
look up dpengineering for something like this
