I have a Russian tutor who is a very good looking woman, but lessons with her are not fun (потому что она суха).These online lessons seem to help me a lot because I actually enjoy them.
Do the same grammar rules apply with 1a verbs that don't end in "at'" IE There is no way he's putting on his shoes: "On nikak ne budet obuet"? Sorry for my billions of questions.

That's a very good question, and indeed in linguistics that aspect of English is called "the Saxon genitive". If you learn German, you will see that the Genitive case of masculine and neuter nouns ends in s also. So "'s" certainly is the remains of the genitive case in English.
Thank you for another fine lesson, professor Huliganov!
Do you think you could sing the Soviet National Anthem in a future lesson? The reason why I ask is because since 1991 I cannot patriotically force you to do this..
I don't like shutkas really, they just kinda happen to me. I am an accountant not a university lecturer, the reason being that I don't like being lowly paid. As for how old I am, how old do I look?

There are two nagging questions that I still have:
1) When do we pronounce 'O' as 'o,' and when do we pronounce it as 'ah?'
2) How do we know where to put the stress on a word when we pronounce it?
Cathortis 3 years ago
1) o is "O" when the accent is on it.
like Хорошó = harasho.
2) I'm pretty sure you just have to learn it, there's no easy way. But I'm no expert.
It's something we need to learn, too. Because;
Писать, if accent is on "a", then is 'to write.'
If accent is on the "и" means 'to urinate.'

Very simple actually :).
O = A when unstressed.
O = OO when stressed.
Horosho - the stress is on the last o, so the first two o's are A's

Srashivat' o doroge - what does this mean? You listed it on the screen and didn't say what it is.

this might be a silly question but could you say english has a genitive case because of the addition of 's to a noun to show possession?

OK, I'll present the anthem in the next lesson. That reminds me, better get on and do one soon.

I guess that no one would know that the verb "гнать" would be in I-form "я гнаю" after. That's wrong.
So perhaps you would teach us about these problem in the future.

Like I said, I started with 1a verbs. Gnat' is not in that class, so it will be coming up later.
If you would like a 1a verb to paraphrase the meaning of gnat, if you say "speshat'" it will be understandable, but save gnat' for the class 2 verbs.
