I think building a mosque next to ground zero is actually a very good and brave sign from the muslimic world.
Yes, Moslems attacked the WTC. But the main part of moslems do not appreciate that, they think of it as a crime, as terror, exactly like western people do.
So I think, to show, that moslems want to include themself into the happenings of 9/11, this is a good way.
I hope everybody understood what I tried to say, since im swiss and not english.

Everybody keeps talking about "them." Islam is not one, big, homogenous group of terrorists. I keep reading these weird comments about what "they did to us." Who is "us" and who is "they"? The Muslim community center is being built by and for U.S. citizens who happen to be Muslim -- it has nothing to do with 9/11 or Ground Zero. U.S. citizens are allowed to build religious community centers anywhere they want, deal with it. People talk about it like an invading force is occupying Manhattan.

The amount of Muslims in the world makes the radical people within Islam as small a fraction of Islam as radical Christians who threaten to blow up abortion clinics and gun down liberals at Unitarian Universalist churches.
