A ridiculous ending to this movie. It's unreasonable that a "boxer" --- I don't care how good he is ---- could defeat a Martial arts expert. It's not possible. I've studied Kung Fu--- and, in no way could a boxer ever beat me.
Beringer may have more screen time --- but the true "leader" in this movie is John Foster, the NY "killer". After all -- it is he about whom the movie is based upon. Without him --- what would be the point of this movie?
This trailer makes it look like Billy Dee Williams is the star of the movie. He isn't, he just has a supporting part. If anyone is the star it's Tom Berenger, he probably has more screen time in it than any other actor.
@danning1 : as i said earlier: Berenger "had" more "screen time" --- but he is not the impetus of this movie. It's the "bad guy" --- John Foster, who takes the spot-light. What would be the point of this movie without a villain? In every movie, it is the villain who captures the audience. Not the good guy.
Thanks, CircleofShit for replying. I guess whoever gets "lucky" --- as in winning the lotto or making it in Hollywood. As far as I'm concerned --- today's actors and actresses are nothing but "trailer park trash" who got lucky. Anyone can stand in front of a camera --- how about you and ? And demand $20mil per movie. B.S.
Who knows what happened to John Foster --- the martial arts expert who portrayed the killer in Fear City? How did he never make it in Hollywood --- like Dolph Lunbdgren, Jeane-Claude van Damme, Arnold --- or the others? He has a body that Greek Gods would be jealous of. Young, handsome, etc. How didn't HE "make it" when the other "old trolls" did? That includes Steven Segal,.
I don't get it? I guess I'll never understand "Hollywood".
@principalflutist Not sure man, there are many many talented people out there that just never catch a break, and others who are no where as near talented get all the fame and fortune. I guess its down to luck (and bad luck) and who you know in the business.
I thought the movie started out great and the intro was brilliant. But afterward the movie became unfocused.
1. The focus should've been on the detective who investigates the murders..
2. Berenger should've played the detective.
The guy who runs the stripper agency should've been only a supporting character. The film doesn't seem to establish the protagonist, and the antagonist is neither explained, nor is he a phantom (like Mike Meyers).
Wait... at the end of the trailer... does that say CHEVY CHASE distribution? Since when did Chevy Chase and Abel Ferrara serial killer movies go together?
An underrated Ferrera flick, and a personal favorite. This trailer isn't the same as the one on the DVD. Kind of funny how it makes Billy Dee Williams out to be the main character in this trailer.

@principalflutist Sure dude, I'm sure you'd whip Mike Tyson's ass in a minute, or Lennox Lewis, or either of the Klitschko brothers. Not.

Thanks for your "agreement" --- that's if you do. I just am curious. How did these "trolls" make it to Hollywood?
And, John Foster didn't? I already got your reply --- and thanks for answering.

at 0:42 to 0:44 thats not the actor. Its a stunt man. I know because he's my dad. :)

@aniandina : Is your father's name "John Foster" ---- he was the "killer" in this movie?

@aniandina : are you saying that "John Foster" (the killer) is your dad ---- or someone else?

Billy Dee was in like 10 minutes of this film, yet this trailer makes it seem like he is the man focus.

@misterdesade Hahahahahhaa so true.

@misterdesade Nonsense ---- he was nothing more, IMO, an "extra". The due credit belongs to John Foster. Without him? What would this movie be about?

Now that I look at it, it has a feel of B-Movie, I love Tom Berenger, I just felt he sold himself short.
He's an amazing actor and a longtime fantasy of mine! Boy! Would I have loved to be Melanie Grifftih in that movie!!!!!

ABEL FERRARA is a good Director and TOM BERENGER makes the difference.
Pure class.
