very nice indeed. how much more would it cost to engineer the same locomotive so its larger? to run on 7 1/4". I'm aware that this engine is available for both gauges but looks too small for 7 1/4" imho.
A kit price of just over 9 grand is excellent value for a top of the range loco of this type. Smaller 5" gauge steam engines are made by this company for around 3K.
You can buy a car for this kind of money but in a few years it is worthless, an engine keeps it's value.
I understand ok, I undertsand the boilers fittings, brass plates, all the engieneering. I was just a bit shocked when I saw the price of Jack, just hadnt seen the price in a long time. I just wished that they could be cheaper. Because, not to be rude, I dont have and not a lot of people have 12000 to just on steam loco. theyre beautiful engines though, but seriously, i didnt mean to be rude or mean, I was just asking a question! seriously, the day I have £12000 to spend on what i like, ill buy on
the loco is nice, but very expensive at $ 22,000! I wish is was not so expensive :-(

What is the third track for?
moleman1961 2 years ago
@moleman1961 To my knowledge (which aint very vast) its allows a smaller gauge loco to run on the same tracks e.g. 5 inch and 7 1/4 inch

There is no difference in price to the five inch as they are both pretty much hand built! the prices are on the maxitrak website.

The scale 7 1/4" would be almost half full size which is a bit big for us! we might do it in the future!

where did you get the coal on
and where do u get the water from
looby158 3 years ago
Coal is on the driving truck, there is a well tank on the engine and extra water in a tank on the riding car.

Then came back and we will discuss! I think you under estimate the time and effort that goes in to them.
They are pretty much one off's hand built and fully painted and lined.
