micheal allsup was one on my earliest electric guitar inspirations . that `live at the forum' album opened doors for me as to what it meant to be a working guitarist.
micheal was what i understood early on what it was to be a pro , because through him i realized you had to pick things up rather quickly as to what was playing on the radio if you wanted to work !
Mighty fine video. Thanks for posting. This is one of my favourite songs. They are so underappreciated and shoulod have been in the ROCK & Roll Hall of Fame years ago. And to the seven separate fools that disliked this song...well you know what you can do without me spelling it out for you!
When I first saw Chuck Negron on a "Three Dog Night" album, I fell in love with him and when I heard his voice, even more!! Shortly after collecting several albums, I ran across a young man that had been crossing my path all my young 22 years of life.
His name was David and he looked EXACTLY LIKE Chuck Negron. I immediately KNEW this was the man I was going to marry. We've been married 35 years! I'd swear that Chuck and David were twins separated at birth! Thanks, Chuck! love ya!

Wow ! 1973 - That brings back memories for me ! I was well on my way to a career in the U.S. Navy. Personally throughout my life Three Dog Night has always been a part of my life. Their music has always had something to say that is meaningful and precise. TDN is never to be forgotten as one of the BEST rock groups of the late 60s/70s. I'm now 68 but still a die hard TDN fan !!!
For anyone who is still interested in who exactly is doing the vocals on this song ..here it is straight from the man himself, Chuck Negron, and I quote "sang it myself including a few background parts!" Awsome !!! what a voice..
I agree with offshute...I still love & listen to Three Dog Night & Chuck Negron on a regular basis. Even my 3 yr old grandson knows who "Three Dog Night " is....But specifically to "Into My Life"..the vocal range that Chuck sings here is outta this world.. NO three voices harmonized better than Chuck, Danny & Corey....
Burnt this song up on my old 8 track back in the day ... little did i know at that time, while i was 13 years old, that i would end up on the road with the dogs ... loved every minute with them.
I've had the pleasure of meeting both Chuck & Danny and they couldn't be nicer. Always taking time to listen to a fan. One of my first records was their first album with the song Nobody on it. Use to watch them on 9th Street West with Sam Riddle! Seeing them this Saturday 6/5 in Santa Clarita!
if im not mistaken cyan was the only album a few of the guys in the group wrote a few of the songs on the album.micheal allsup wrote this one i believe but so fitting for chuck and all his problems must have been emotional for him to sing it.
Listen to 7 Separate Fools and and then consider just how good these guys were. One of the best albums of the 70's of all time! Every single song is good both musically and of course the phenomenal vocals. Allsup is one heckuva guitarist. Get Chuck back in the band!
Great song, first I've heard it. I'm sitting by the fire, saturday afternoon, warm cup of coffee, and came on here for a few mins and found this gem...It's a good day! I remember Three Dog Night when I was still in grade school, Was just a little kid but I'll always remember them 'cause they were so popular. Got to see them in concert in "90", Met them all & got autographs, drag Chuck wasn't there :/ but Cory, Danny, Michael were all really nice & polite. They sounded really good.
What's up w/the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? they send it lots of folks who couldn't hold a candle to these guys back in the day..It's why I don't pay attention to them..I don't remember this particular song but the band was killer..I went to a very racially mixed high school and everyone loved these guys..Many thougth they were black because of how funky they sang and played..

Three Dog Night will always be a Two Dog Night without Chucky. Kinda like this "video". It's not even a video, it's a slideshow with images stolen from Google and backed with a copyrighted song played from a scratchy LP.
I wrote on Chuck's facebook wall that I saw the band this past July but I felt empty inside because he wasn't in the band. I told him it was a dream of mine to see him back in the band. I didn't think I'd hear back from him. He wrote back that he'd like to make that dream come true someday but it's not up to him. What a great guy he is to take the time to write back to me.

@offshute Don't pay attention to idiots. This is a very powerful and inspiring song, featuring Chuck Negron at the top of his game, and a nice set of flicks of the band, at that time. Thanks for your efforts.
wow, I don't remember Three Dog Night every playing this one... this is the first I can remember hearing it. I never thought of them sing religious songs.
Props to Mike Allsup for writing this. Very few songs performed by TDN were ever written by any of the band members, this one sounds as if it were written just for Chuck.
I bought this album back in the '80's at a used record store. Mike was raised in the same church as I and we are very conservative. I wonder if he was having some second thoughts about his lifestyle when he wrote this.
Enlightening. Its great to find out Chuck is singing this one again. Its bluesy, Gospel, reflectiveness brings out such appeal.Such an emotive spiritual song that pulsates right through.
On June 6,09 in Las Vegas, Chuck Negron added this song to his set. It was the most amazing thing, Chucks voice is even better now than when he recorded this version. This man has more passion than I have ever seen on stage before.
I love this song! I've seen Three Dog Night three times. The last time was without Chuck Negron, and the group just wasn't the same or as good without him. Thanks, Chuck, for all the wonderful songs you sang with Three Dog NIght!!!
Chuck showed Danny and Cory his book before he published it. They gave in an ok because they were relieved he didn't put things in it that could be more incriminating.
Chuch Negron is deeply religious now and spreads kindness where ever he goes.
Mike Allsup is indeed very gifted and a guitar god in my book.

Chuck religious? Naw, he's pretty much a self absorbed full of sh*t has been! Check out his verson of TDN songs he DIDN'T sing lead on, some of them are pretty bad.
I saw Three Dog Night in 1974 at the Universal Amphitheater in CA. It remains to this day the BEST concert I have ever seen.
They might have done this song, but I don't remember it. So many TDN songs have stood the test of time--THIS one could still be released today as a single and it would become a hit.
Somebody explain to me how they aren't in the Rock Hall of Fame???
My gosh - I just bawled my eyes out! I have been looking for this song for over 20 years!! I used to listen to this when I realized my wife and I were going to get divorced. I was a hard drinker then, which Chuck Negron expresses perfectly when he sings "Ive seen my life through the bottom of a shot glass of vermouth". And then he sings "the Lord makes fools like me to tell them so" - My goodness. I regret ruining my marriage, but this song is a warning to others like me.
Check out the liner notes for the original CYAN on vinyl if you can find it. It lists the lead vocalist on each song, and Chuck is listed as the vocalist on this cut. There are times when Cory sings falsetto that he sounds like Chuck, but this isn't one of them. :-)
Trust me, dude...it's Chuck! I am a long time TDN fan since I was a toddler...and also a vocalist who has studied the stylings of all three TDN vocalists very closely. This is without a doubt Mr. Negron. Maybe someone should message Chuck at his MySpace page just to end the confusion. :-)
Correct it is Chuck.I saw them perform (lip sync) it on American Bandstand right after they did Shambala......Dick Clark asked them if the next song was their next single at which time Chuck said no that it was a song from the album written by Michael...their guitarist and to my surprise..it was "Into My Life" I never heard it before then. I had the "CYAN" album but never listened to that track untill that American Bandstand show.
I've been looking for this song for years! It really helped me through a bad time back then. Thanks for putting it up! Just hearing it again brought back some great memories....I echo several others - wish I could get it on iTunes or as an mp3......
Michael Allsup is a gifted songwriter. A song that can come forward 35 years and still make a difference in someone's life. Thank you for this nice video.
One of the BEST 3 Dog songs they ever did.... straight from the Heart!!! I never get tired of hearing this song. I too wish it had come out as a single, I never heard it before I bought the album.....
Thank you guys for taking the time to share, really appreciate it.I know for one thing Australia is a great country and i,m proud of her. There to help others and our allies from the Usa,at first i was having a rough night....til now, thanks offshute and everyone...and what a great song!3 dog nite.
Building bridges and making room for others, i hear ya.But through clear seeing about whats right,Its about choosing, times to let go... i mean some folks simply come and go from our lives, while others stay.Love the process,s of life.Songs like this are really special.
Being selfish is alright in some ways, but its important to give.Generosity of spirit and seeing us all as one,...love is all.(but choose wisely)...God bless.
I met Chuck at on Sunset Strip 199?... just when he was cleaning up his act. He told me he was putting together some tracks for his comeback. I guess he made it. He's a real Phoenix story. Does a lot of great 12 step work. Good person.
for those interested, this album "Cyan" is available on a double disc. You get "Cyan" and the album "Hard Labor" on one disc. Available at at most online cd sellers. (don't know how good the sound quality is though)
I saw them a week ago in MO, Michael has such a good time on stage, he is so happy and you can tell he just loves being in the group and entertaining...he's the greatest
I remember the whole Cyan album. I was eleven at the time. My sister alternated this album with Jesus Christ Superstar which came out around the same time. A very moving song from a great album. Remember "Let Me Serenade You"?."Shambala" got the air play though.
Wow I never heard this song great and I think the lord was laways in these guys lifes as he is with most talanted singers thats where the feeling came from
This song was written by guitarist Michael Allsup. A bit biographical? I don't know. But, a solid song. Elsewhere on this album is a tune called Happy Song. A metal, hard driving cut that was also written Michael Allsup. These guys are just so under-rated...
Incredible song written by Mike Allsup awesome!!! Long time favorite of mine! Inspirational!

What sucks and makes no sense whatsover is that they've never been inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame.
But I'm sure that there's just no way they wont be sonner or later!
And maybe the blessing of the wait will be all of the living original members being back together for just one more number.
We can only hope!!

Gotta bring the Lord back in my life
I've seen the truth
Through the bottom of a shot glass of vermouth
But that's not the way the Lord intended it
Messing up my life the way I'm spending it
Blind to the way to stop the sin in me
Um, can't see the good the Lord is giving me
So take the blame off me and let me go
The Lord made fools like me to tell them so...

Some of the live footage on here shows Cory doing some of the same vocal moves that appear at the end of the tune.

The song probably has even more significant these days.Sharing and less selfish.

I wish they could work out there differences and reunite they're all in their mid sixties.I think Negron pissed them off writing his book.

I remember the whole Cyan album. I was eleven at the time. My sister alternated this album with Jesus Christ Superstar which came out around the same time. A very moving song from a great album. Remember "Let Me Serenade You"?."Shambala" got the air play though.

This song was written by guitarist Michael Allsup. A bit biographical? I don't know. But, a solid song. Elsewhere on this album is a tune called Happy Song. A metal, hard driving cut that was also written Michael Allsup. These guys are just so under-rated...
